Senior Pipeline Engineer

Job Description

Due to anticipated growth throughout 2023, Wood is currently inviting applications for a Senior Pipline Engineer with experience in the oil and gas industry for our Engineering team in Abu Dhabi.

Below are some key responsibilities and duties:

Contributing to delivery of Engineering excellence through:

+ Executing assigned scopes of work

+ Supporting and supervising task delegation to team

+ Providing discipline support to the business

Process Ownership:

+ Demonstrate understanding of and work to discipline specific procedures

Subject Matter Expertise:

+ Technically competent in own discipline and actively maintains own competence according to standards and pursues continuous professional development

+ Actively participate in tendering process by reviewing scopes, raising clarifications, preparing Pipeline execution plan and preparing manhour estimate using Wood's normsheet

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline stress analysis and its report using CAESAR II and AUTO Pipe

+ Familiar with design and construction buried, aboveground, pipeline designs in sabkha / non-sabkha area and its respective international codes

+ Preparation and checking of FEED and Detailed design Pipeline scopes and related deliverables

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline mechanical calculations (wall thickness calculation, upheaval buckling calculation, road crossing calculation, Anchor flange calculation, etc.) for pipeline systems

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline speciality Items specifications, data sheets, Material requisitions and TBEs (i.e. Scrapper launcher and receiver, barred tee, Line pipe, scraper signaller, induction bends, full bore ball and through conduit gate and check valves, isolating joint, pipeline flanged, fittings, chemical injection quills, Corrosion coupons, etc.)

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline Construction specifications, External coating and FJC, and SOW for construction

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline survey Scope of work

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline Schematic diagrams

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline Crossing matrix

+ Preparation and checking of Pipeline Material take off and material specifications

+ Familiar with Scrapers station, BVS and associated piping design

+ Able to manage vendor documents for speciality items like Scrapper launcher and receiver, barred tee, Line pipe, scraper signaller (intrusive and non-intrusive), induction bends, full bore ball and through conduit gate and check valves, isolating joint, pipeline flanged, fittings, chemical injection quills, Corrosion coupons, etc.

+ Familiar with pipeline related technical reports like route selection, valve station location selections, etc.

+ Familiar with Arc-GIS

+ Provide discipline support to the business

+ Ensure self-awareness of relevant regulatory framework, legislation changes, initiatives and industry technology developments and promote to direct reports

+ Provide discipline input to scope definition and execution

General:

+ Familiarize with Wood procedures and standards

+ Deputising for Lead as required

+ Supporting and supervising tasks delegated to direct reports

+ Executing assigned personal objectives

+ Management of third-party suppliers in the execution of Engineering delivery

+ Carry out survey and answer site queries

+ Review and check the work of design team

+ Assist in the preparation of CTR's and man-hour estimates

+ Attend meetings as and when required

+ Assist procurement and project engineering personnel in the procurement of equipment and materials

+ Liaise with other disciplines on design, construction, fabrication and commissioning issues

Internal:

+ Establish and maintain effective working relationships and communicate across the project / contract interfaces

+ Engage with inter-discipline community

+ Support in meeting project deadlines and commitments within approved manhours

External:

+ Establishing an awareness of external stakeholders including: industry bodies, academia, vendors, client interface (as appropriate and requested)

+ Manage discipline interface with clients and ensure customer satisfaction

Minimum Qualifications:

+ BSc, BEng or equivalent

Minimum Experience:

+ 10+ year of relevant experience in oil and gas industry

Role-Specific Skills:

+ Thorough knowledge and understanding of the Pipeline engineering design and analysis

+ Thorough awareness of relevant international codes and standards

+ Experience in nonmetallic pipelines

+ Experience in brownfield jobs and FEED jobs

+ Experience in Vendor package management

+ Experience of the application of HAZOP, HAZID and e-HAZOP to Electrical design

+ Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage

+ Intellectually capable, can substantiate the ability to apply theory in a practical context

+ Familiar with the use of industry standards and codes

+ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

+ Good Oral and Communication skills

+ Must have good interpersonal skills/team player

+ Able to demonstrate team working skills

+ Flexible with a can-do attitude
