Clinical/Professional Responsibilities
  • To work as an autonomous professional according to the standards of DOH
  • To meet the regulations of DOH and fulfill the requirements for physiotherapy registration.
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of own work and to ensure a high standard of clinical care for patients under own care and support other team members to do likewise
  • Manage a caseload of patients with complex needs, using evidence-based and patient-centered principles to assess, plan, implement and evaluate interventions.
  • To select appropriate treatment techniques, this may include facilitation of normal movement, therapeutic handling, gait re-education, chest physiotherapy, etc
  • Formulates goals that are specific, measurable, achievable and relevant, with specified timeframe.
  • Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure effectiveness of intervention.
  • To maintain comprehensive and accurate assessment and treatment records in line with legal and departmental requirements, and communicate assessment and treatment results to the appropriate disciplines in the form of reports and clinical handovers (SBAR).
  • To work with members of the multi-disciplinary team, to ensure optimal outcomes for the patient
  • Provide support, guidance and training to Junior Physiotherapists and Therapy Caregivers. Act as a mentor to others within the department.
  • Oversee report writing/documentation of junior staff and other non-clinical roles as appropriate.
  • To prioritize and manage the clinical and non-clinical responsibilities, of the post on a daily basis and to assist junior therapists and therapy caregivers in prioritizing, and managing their clinical and non-clinical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrates sensitive and appropriate handling during the assessment process. Give advice to staff, patients, carers and family on the correct manual handling techniques, undertaking highly specialised manual handling risk assessments.
  • To communicate effectively with patients and carers, whilst addressing cultural, religious and language barriers, to maximise rehabilitation potential, to ensure understanding of condition and address anxieties and concerns. Communication skills of persuasion, motivation, explanation, and gaining informed consent will be used with a wide variety of patients.
  • Work as a flexible member of the rehab team, communicating effectively with others
  • Being an active member of the in-service training programme by the attendance and presentation at staff meetings, tutorials, training sessions, external courses and reflective practice
  • To assist with the facilitation of the team's continued professional development (both uni-professionally and as an integrated physiotherapy and occupational therapy team)
  • Participate in the staff appraisal scheme and identify objectives for personal development with the Manager .
  • To be pro-active in seeking supervision to support clinical/management/professional issues from the Manager
Administrative /Organisational
  • Involved in the proposal/development and implementation of departmental policies, competencies and treatment protocols.
  • Actively involved in the induction of new staff - formal orientation as well within the department
  • Actively involved in service development and quality improvement projects
  • Teach, assess and contribute to the performance assessment and appraisal of junior staff
  • To efficiently and effectively manage designated case load with regard to clinical responsibilities and use of time
  • To attend mandatory training sessions, including annual fire and safety lectures, Basic Life Support and Safe patient manual handling training
  • To comply with the organisational and departmental policies and procedures and be pro-active in identifying, reviewing and updating as appropriate, which may impact beyond own area
  • Any other duties that might be considered appropriate by the Manager
  • To ensure that all duties are carried out to the highest possible standard

Qualifications: 8. QUALIFICATION, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
ESSENTIAL PREFERRED
Education xc2xb7 Bachelors Degree/ Diploma in Physiotherapy xc2xb7 Masters Degree
Experience xc2xb7 5 Years Clinical Experience xc2xb7 5 years + clinical experience
Certification and Licensure xc2xb7 DOH and Home country licensure xc2xb7 DOH and home country licensure
Job Specific Knowledge and Skills xc2xb7 Neuro - rehab experience (pediatric and adult) xc2xb7 NDT and Bobath knowledge; OMT trained
xc2xb7 Experience in the field of Respiratory Medicine; Musculo skeletal management
xc2xb7 Excellent English language skills, Arabic would be an advantage.
xc2xb7 Good report writing, computer, communication and Interpersonal skills.
