Key Accountabilities

Under supervision and direction of IMEA Head of Legal, whilst working with IMEA Senior Corporate Counsel and wider EMEAA West BRR team:
  • Responsible for supporting IMEA hotel signings, renewals and variation negotiations including preparation and review of contractual documentation and managing owner relationship and related contractual issues.
  • Assisting Legal colleagues and the wider business in determining the strategic direction re hotel transactions in IMEA.
  • Providing support to the business on deal structuring, e.g. hotel disposal, acquisition, lease, joint venture.
  • IMEA legal template management, regularly reviewing and updating, as needed for legal and compliance reasons.
  • Supporting IHG in its aim that business is conducted, and business objectives are achieved in compliance with the law and in accordance with IHG global and regional strategic priorities.
  • Providing support to the IMEA hotel operations teams on day-to-day issues, including coordinating with hotel owners, Head of Legal IMEA and Safety & Security Director on contract variations, compliance, payment and other hotel related issues.
  • Responsible for supporting the management of legal disputes initiated by or against IHG, gathering and reviewing factual data, supporting and coordinating with outside counsel, including supporting the negotiation of out of court settlements where possible, in alignment with corporate ethics and company objectives.
  • Providing support to corporate functions, including MD, HR, Tax, IA, HLG, Operations and Finance.
  • Liaising with tax and insurance and supporting Legal function in ensuring optimal deal structures and template wording to reflect IHG tax and insurance guidance.
  • Managing IHG corporate entities for IMEA, including the set up and licensing of subsidiaries and branches where required for IHG\'s hotel operations, including organising signatures, notarisations, board minutes and powers of attorney.
  • Actively participating in the development and roll-out of regulatory compliance programmes together with responsibility for monitoring and evaluating impacts of new legislation affecting IHG business.
  • Proactively keeping abreast of relevant statutory legislation and regulatory requirements in jurisdictions where IHG is doing business (particularly IMEA);
  • Participating in cross-functional activities, committees and events within the corporate office.
  • Providing training to functions within the IMEA business and hotels on legal and compliance issues.
Key Skills & Experiences

Educational Attainment:
  • Senior Paralegal, with a minimum five years\' experience - preferably in the hospitality industry.
Critical Expertise & Experience:
  • Understanding of IHG\'s business goals / hospitality industry goals, industry dynamics and growth targets, and strong ability to think from a macro and micro perspective
  • Strong influencing skills to sustain high impact relationships with key owners, internal stakeholders and results delivery
  • Strong negotiating and drafting experience
  • Proactive in driving deals forward and project managing external and internal stakeholders.
  • Good interpersonal skills, management ability
  • Good commercial acumen and creative problem-solving skills
Technical Skills & Knowledge:
  • An experienced, self-driven paralegal who understands legal transactions and has a solid background in providing international corporate and commercial legal support.
  • Spoken and written Arabic language skills would be beneficial
