Job Description

Responsible for designing mechanical systems, preparing drawings and layouts for Hospital-wide projects and oversees installations. Provides on-site construction supervision.
Essential Responsibilities and Duties
1. Communicates with Hospital Departments at various levels to discuss and identify needs and requirements. 2. Designs and prepares mechanical systems (plumbing, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, water and sewage treatment, fire systems, medical gas systems, etc.) including drawings to strictly conform to international codes, standards and professional practices. 3. Coordinates mechanical systems with architectural components of the building and other disciplines. 4. Contributes to the engineering designs/study for Hospital infrastructure systems upgrade and facility master planning. 5. Prepares site plans and utility drawings. 6. Selects and specifies material and equipment as required for systems design by him or as required and appropriate. 7. Prepares technical specifications and Bill of Quantities. 8. Inspects work design by him and/or others. 9. Supervises on-site construction for compliance with the contract's technical specifications. 10. Performs progress monitoring and quality assurance reviews. 11. Improves and upgrades mechanical specifications, materials, and methods used adopting latest technology. 12. Reviews, recommends approval of shop drawings, product data and samples submitted by Contractors. 13. Updates as-built drawings. 14. Reviews Change Orders and substitutions. 15. Assists in resolving complex technical problems and coordinates problem resolution. 16. Participates in self and Hospital's quality improvement plan preferred. 17. Follows all Hospital and related Policies & Procedures.

Education
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline is required.
Experience Required
Five (5) years of related experience with Master’s or seven (7) years with Bachelor’s Degree is required.
Other Requirements(Certificates)
  • Knowledgeable in Us codes and standards including NFPA, ASME, UL and ASHRAE.
  • Skilled in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office, Primavera and/or Microsoft Projects and engineering calculation software.
  • Fluent in oral and written English.
  • Proven record in the design, specifications and construction of mechanical systems for new and existing buildings in a large health care facility setting.
  • Non-Saudi Engineers must obtain minimum of five (5) years of related experience.
  • Saudi Council of Engineers license is required.
