Position Overview
This Senior Mechanical Engineer role with AECOM Dubai focuses on supervising and managing the mechanical components of stormwater drainage systems, pumping stations, and microtunneling works. The position ensures full compliance with approved designs, specifications, authority standards, and safety requirements while supporting the Resident Engineer throughout the construction, installation, testing, and commissioning stages.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise mechanical works related to stormwater networks, pumping stations, and associated systems
  • Review and approve mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements
  • Implement QA/QC procedures including ITPs, inspection protocols, and commissioning plans
  • Conduct inspections for pumps, valves, piping, mechanical screens, actuators, and control systems
  • Ensure compliance with ASHRAE, NFPA, DEWA, DM, and RTA mechanical standards
  • Monitor testing and commissioning of all mechanical systems and verify performance records
  • Report progress, delays, and deviations to the Resident Engineer
  • Coordinate with design teams for RFIs, clarifications, and resolution of mechanical issues
  • Verify discipline interfaces across civil, structural, electrical, and controls
  • Review mechanical as-built drawings and ensure documentation accuracy
  • Participate in FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities
  • Enforce HSE protocols during lifting operations and confined-space activities
  • Support evaluation of contractor claims, variations, and progress submissions
  • Mentor junior engineers and inspectors on quality, safety, and engineering best practices
Ideal Profile
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering; Master's degree preferred
  • Minimum 20 years of relevant experience in stormwater, pumping stations, and mechanical infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of Dubai authority requirements (RTA, DM, DEWA)
  • Professional registration such as CEng or ASME is an advantage
  • Proven experience managing mechanical construction supervision at senior level
  • Strong analytical, coordination, and problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills
