Senior Material / Specification Engineer
Job Description
Produce the full particular and general specification package for all and each project.
Review, evaluate, and approve material submittals in line with project requirements, specifications, and international standards.
Develop, update, and manage the project specification documents for all materials and finishes across design and construction phases.
Coordinate with design and technical teams to select materials that meet both design intent and functional requirements.
Liaise with consultants, contractors, and vendors to ensure the materials proposed and used on-site are in compliance with approved samples and specifications.
Ensure consistency of material specifications across different project packages and disciplines.
Conduct market research and benchmarking to identify new and innovative materials and technologies suitable for the project.
Ensure sustainability and environmental considerations are integrated into material selection, in alignment with green building certifications (e.g., LEED, Estidama).
Participate in material mock-up inspections and factory visits as needed.
Review and approve materials procurement schedules submitted by contractors.
Support value engineering exercises while maintaining the quality and performance of the materials.
