About the Role

El Patio Engineering Consultancy is seeking a skilled Senior Material Engineer to join our Design Team, supporting the preparation of material reports, technical evaluations, and IMAS approval submissions for large-scale landscape, public realm, and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will have strong knowledge of materials, specifications, authority requirements, and design-stage approval workflows.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare comprehensive Material Evaluation Reports for all landscape, civil, and MEP material types.

Develop and manage IMAS material submissions, ensuring full compliance with DMT, ADM, ADQCC, ADDC/TAQA, ITC, and other relevant authorities.

Review and verify technical data sheets, test certificates, sustainability criteria, and compliance matrices for proposed materials.

Coordinate with Landscape Designers, Civil Engineers, MEP Engineers, and QA/QC to ensure alignment of material selections with the design intent.

Assist in preparing Material Approval Schedules for design submissions and tender packages.

Evaluate alternative materials proposed by clients or contractors and prepare technical recommendations.

Participate in coordination meetings and respond to authority comments related to materials.

Support the design guardianship team during construction by providing technical material clarifications when required.

Maintain an updated database of approved materials, suppliers, and specifications.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Materials Engineering, Architecture, or related field.

7-12 years of relevant experience, preferably in UAE design consultancies.

Strong knowledge of materials related to:

Hardscape

Softscape

Irrigation

Infrastructure components

Building/architectural finishes (advantage)

Experience with IMAS, IDAS, ADQCC standards, and DMT/ADM submission requirements.

Strong analytical and technical review skills.

Ability to prepare clear, well-structured technical reports.
