Job Title: Marine Underwriter
Location: Kuwait (Relocation required one-month hotel accommodation provided) Remote Option: May be considered for strong GCC-based candidates (2nd priority) Reporting to: Head of Facultative Underwriting (FAC) Team: Facultative Underwriting Team Role Purpose The Marine Underwriter will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Kuwait Res underwriting strategy in the Marine line of business. This role plays a critical part in evaluating Marine reinsurance opportunities, maintaining key broker and cedent relationships, and contributing to the company's growth in the GCC and international reinsurance markets. Key Responsibilities Support the execution of Kuwait Res underwriting strategies and objectives under the supervision of the Head of Underwriting. Evaluate reinsurance proposals and conduct risk assessments for marine accounts (upstream and downstream). Determine appropriate pricing and premiums in alignment with Kuwait Res pricing policies. Draft and review reinsurance policy terms and documentation. Conduct background investigations and analyze claims exposure for marine risks. Maintain and develop strong relationships with brokers and cedents; act as a reliable point of contact. Collect, record, and analyze client and transaction data; ensure shared access across internal departments. Contribute to business development by identifying new Marine products or business opportunities. Coordinate with the Accounts department for Fac Retro closings and financial reconciliations. Produce weekly and monthly underwriting and performance reports. Support any additional underwriting tasks or responsibilities as directed by the department head. Candidate Profile Experience & Technical Skills: Minimum 5 years of experience in Marine underwriting or facultative reinsurance (open to Assistant Underwriter profiles with strong growth potential). Solid background in pricing, claims evaluation, and risk analysis for upstream/downstream energy insurance. Experience in drafting policies and managing Marine portfolios independently is preferred. Proficiency in producing underwriting performance and risk reports. Soft Skills & Attributes: Strong analytical and decision-making skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team. Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building capabilities with clients and brokers. Demonstrates loyalty, cultural adaptability, and a long-term commitment to the company. Professional fluency in English; familiarity with regional (Indian/Kuwaiti) business culture is an advantage.
