Senior Legal Specialist

Job Description

About the role The role sits within the Group Legal department and reports to the Senior Manager – Legal. You will be primarily responsible for drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial contracts and legal matters relating to the Qatar Airways group’s operations with a focus on IT contracts. You will be working closely and independently with other stakeholder teams including the Data Protection Office, Procurement, Cybersecurity and other relevant Business Units to ensure these contractual arrangements meet the need of the Users and comply with Qatar Airways Procurement, Contracting, Legal and other Policies. Some of the tasks include:
  • Preparing, reviewing, negotiating and finalising a wide variety of commercial agreements including complex IT contracts with suppliers and partners (eg. Software licenses, cloud services, professional services).
  • Collaborating effectively with other stakeholder teams to ensure risk management in contracts and compliance with the Qatar Airways group policies and processes.
  • Effectively managing litigation matters and disputes as may be allocated from time to time.
  • Providing ad hoc advice on a range of legal matters.
  • Performing other duties as directed by the Senior Manager and / or General Counsel.

Qualifications About you
  • Qualified lawyer in a recognized jurisdiction with minimum 8 years of relevant experience
  • Strong experience and knowledge in Commercial / Technology contracts
  • Some practical knowledge of data privacy issues as they relate to contracts
  • Strong leadership, negotiation and interpersonal skills with effective verbal and written English communication skills
  • Proven senior influencing and relationship management skills to balance and manage diverse stakeholder interests
  • Strong legal drafting skills
  • Experience in working within a large international company, preferably within a regulated industry.
