The Directed Energy Research Center of the Technology and Innovation Institute is looking for a Senior Laser-Matter Interaction Researcher. Under the supervision of the Laser-Matter Interaction (LMI) team leader, the candidate will be responsible for performing research and development activities related to laser-matter interaction science. The job includes traveling overseas, on occasion for short periods, in order to participate in conferences, visits of suppliers or partners, trainings, etc. Responsibilities:
Laser-matter interaction modelling in CW and pulsed regime
Designing, integrating, and building experimental setup with different laser systems
Conducting experiments in indoor and outdoor environments
Investigation of laser-induced thermal and mechanical effects on different materials
Results and project reporting
Working collaboratively with project team members
Interacting with scientific partners, suppliers, and manufacturers
Publishing papers in journals or conferences related to the domain of expertise
Participating in multidisciplinary discussions within the activity domain of DERC
Other duties related to the position
Requirements
Strong experience in working with high power lasers
Strong experience in development of experimental setup: optical setup development, signal processing
Strong experience in modeling softwares: COMSOL Multiphysics, LabVIEW / Core II CREO Elements, Matlab, Zemax
Ability to work as part of a multicultural research team with effective oral and written communication skills
Ability to work in clean rooms (ISO7 class) in accordance with laser safety rules
Qualifications
PhD degree or Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree in laser/optical physics, electrical engineering, or similar
At least 2 years of working experience in an R&D department (or similar environment) directly related to the topic for PhD, or 5 years for a Master\xe2\x80\x99 degree.
Good level of English (speaking and writing)
