Tashkeel is a contemporary artist and designer studio based in Dubai, UAE, supporting locally rooted creative practice through training, production, and commissioned design. Its in-house design arm, Tasmeem Tashkeel, specializes in furniture and product design that is research-led, sustainable, and reflective of the UAE's heritage and material culture and translating it in a contemporary way.

Position Overview

Tashkeel is seeking a Senior Interior Designer to join its Design Department. This senior-level position is essential to the growth of the design team, with responsibilities across both in-house and client-driven design work. The role involves leading turnkey interior design projects and developing original design pieces for the Tasmeem Tashkeel furniture collection.

The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 5 years' experience in interior architecture and project management, with strong conceptual thinking, cultural research ability, and technical delivery skills. The position demands a high level of coordination across creative, technical, and production teams.

Key Responsibilities

Lead turnkey interior design projects, from client briefing and concept development to construction, installation, and handover Develop concepts grounded in contextual research, with a strong understanding of Emirati heritage, traditional crafts, and material culture, applying these insights in contemporary and culturally resonant ways Design and develop new furniture and interior products for the Tasmeem Tashkeel in-house collection Oversee production using the Tasmeem Tashkeel factory, including coordination of factory visits, technical drawings, and prototyping Manage relationships with interior contractors, suppliers, and consultants for successful on-site implementation Prepare and present design proposals, mood boards, detailed drawings, material specifications, and cost estimates Apply best practices in sustainable and enduring design, including material selection and construction methods Collaborate with internal team members including: Art Consultant Design Supervisor Design and Project Lead 3D Designers Project Coordinator Graphic Designers to support the development of integrated signage, visual motifs, and custom patterns Contribute to internal critique and feedback sessions; mentor junior team members as needed Maintain project timelines, budgets, and deliverables according to agreed schedules
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree (minimum) in Interior Architecture or a related discipline Minimum of 5 years of full-time professional experience in interior design, including project leadership Demonstrable experience in turnkey project delivery and client-based design projects Strong portfolio demonstrating both conceptual development and technical execution Proficient in AutoCAD, 3D design software, and rendering tools (e.g., SketchUp, Revit, 3ds Max, V-Ray) Knowledge of material sourcing, local production standards, and fabrication methods Ability to conduct cultural and site-specific research and apply findings to design narratives Fluent in English; Arabic language skills a plus
