Job Description
Major Responsibilities & Duties performed:
- Controlling the movement of the Scrap and DRI trucks as per the given plan for prompt unloading.
- Assist Foreman in day-to-day shift activities and takes care of scrap operations in his absence.
- Checking of Bulk density of Scrap in truck to have an idea of incoming scrap quality.
- Unloading of Scrap and DRI as per grade at the designated location.
- Segregation of Unwanted material and Unprepared scrap by spreading offloaded scrap on floor.
- Classification of Scrap quality/category following Internal Scrap Standards.
- Visual estimation of Scrap quantity & grade if the unloaded scrap is composed of different categories.
- If any piece of scrap is not acceptable or inferior quality of scrap; load it back in the same truck.
- Reporting of Loaded-back Scrap abnormalities, deductions & rejections with relevant evidence/pics.
- Identify and segregate out closed containers, Hydraulic jacks and non-metallic/unwanted material.
- Inspect closely suspected Bundle or Jumbled scrap after breaking it open before accepting.
- Record the relevant inspection remarks both on Scrap Inspection report and Inspection Sheet.
- Co-ordination with Scrap yard Foreman and Scrap Controller for Gantry crane or other requirements.
- Shifting of segregated oversize material to the designated area at the end of shift.
- Takes care of safety of coworkers and machinery / scrap handling Equipment.
- Always maintain Housekeeping of yard and surroundings.
Other Responsibilities:
- To understand and follow the organizational HS&E policies.
- To follow safety instructions related to their jobs.
- To report damaged PPE, unsafe machines or equipment to concerned staff.
- To keep the provided PPEs in good, workable conditions.
- To avoid any horseplay and abuse of safety devices, equipment and welfare facilities.
- To report any accidents, near misses or hazardous conditions to concerned responsible.
- To attend safety trainings planned for them.
- Having a right to say "NO" to any unsafe work.
