About the position
My client in Dubai is looking for a Senior Geophysicist who will perform all office and field geophysics related assignments acquisition, as defined by the Project or Survey Manager or Chief Geophysicist. Primarily responsible for interpretation and reporting of geophysical data. The position commands a responsibility and necessity to set example. Initiative is a pre requisite part in the role of all duties whether in the lead or supportive role. Supports other departments with geological background information.
NB: This role will require you to relocate to the UAE.
Duties:
Operations:

• Acquisition and interpretation of geophysical data.
• Check geophysical data in the field for completeness and quality.
• Check work of subordinate staff.
• If applicable assist and directly support the Party Chief with the execution of given work and tasks
• Execute given work ensuring it is within project targets and in accordance with specifications, procedures and work practices.
• If applicable is responsible for field reporting and compilation of survey reports in given company format.
• Actively participate in the implementation of QC procedures in the field environment.
• If applicable, liaise regularly with Party Chief, Surveyors and Engineers in field for overall assessment of survey progress.
• Organise own work and delegate tasks to assigned staff.
• Check and advise contract variations.
• If applicable assist and directly support the Party Chief with the execution of given work and tasks.
• Execute given work ensuring it is within project targets and in accordance with specifications, procedures and work practices.
• Expected to liaise directly with client on relevant technical issues and on contractual / operational issues when in the responsible role.
• Responsible for actively ensuring the implementation of QC procedures in the field environment.
• Responsible for actively ensuring all safety standards are met and followed and reports are duly completed as and when necessary.

Financial:

• Is either responsible for or assist the Party Chief or Project Manager in maintaining expense accounting in the field.
• Account for own project and business related expenditure.

Personnel:

• Assess and advise Management on subordinate staff performance.
• Assist with advising and training of subordinate staff on a technical, quality and safety related issues.

Administration:

• If applicable check and approve all field administrative reporting.
• Is responsible for and / or assist with maintenance of field survey / engineering administration and field filing system in accordance with work practices.
• Ensure time spent on projects is properly accounted for.
• Responsible for geophysical data administration.
• Submit monthly work reports in company prescribed format.

Education:

• Working experience 5-8 years
