A Construction Engineer specializing in Rigging is responsible for planning, supervising, and executing the safe and efficient movement of heavy equipment and materials on construction sites. This role involves a deep understanding of rigging techniques, equipment, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities of a Construction Engineer-Rigging:
Developing detailed lift plans, including selecting appropriate equipment (cranes, hoists, etc.), calculating load capacities, and outlining safety procedures.
Choosing the correct rigging hardware (slings, shackles, etc.) and ensuring it is properly inspected and certified for use.
Ensuring all rigging operations adhere to safety regulations, including those related to load limits, rigging techniques, and personnel training.
Overseeing the execution of lifting operations, coordinating with other team members (crane operators, riggers, etc.), and resolving any technical issues that arise.
Preparing lift plans, method statements, and other relevant documentation, as well as reporting on the progress and safety of rigging operations.
Providing guidance and training to less experienced riggers and other personnel involved in rigging operations.
