Position:

  • Reporting to the Marine Director in Bahrain to strategically lead and grow the subsea pipeline marine technical disciplines in Bahrain, KSA and the UAE servicing the greater gulf area;
  • Lead the subsea pipeline offering based in the Bahrain office;
  • Develop the subsea pipeline sector within the Bahrain office and greater GCC region;
  • Mentoring and managing knowledge transfer within the office and between ByrneLooby offices;
  • Liaise with ByrneLooby strategic marine partners to seek opportunities for design, site supervision and construction of the marine-related project in GCC;
  • Significant input in the direction of the regional growth of the marine team in terms of technical needs, market sectors and areas;
  • Where opportunities permit and subject to specific requirements, lead any number of projects based resources in countries outside of the core companies above in the Middle East and UK/Ireland;
  • Provide assistance and where necessary lead the production of marine-based tenders and proposals;
  • Assist the Technical Leads and Directors in Bahrain, KSA and UAE in growing the regional presence and look to grow our marine capability regional;
  • Contribute to the marine business development regionally and be a key point of contact for marine works in a number of strategic areas and key clients.


Requirements:

  • Management of projects from a technical, commercial and programme perspective;
  • Produce and manage tenders and bids;
  • Pipeline design based to relevant codes and standards: API, ABS, DNV, BV, BS, Eurocode, etc. for intakes, outfalls and oil and gas pipelines;
  • Detailed Non-Linear FE analyses (lateral / Upheaval buckling analysis, free-span assessment, On-bottom stability analysis);
  • Competent in the use of relevant codes and software (DHI/Cormix/Corhyd/SAGE/ Ansys/Abaqus);
  • Competent in subsea pipeline design;
  • Write reports, undertake and check calculations;
  • Develop specifications, operations, maintenance, testing and commissioning plans;
  • Review Contractors offshore installation methodologies;
  • Preferably gained experience in design engineers/consultants or installation contractors;
  • Fully competent with the required analysis software and identify potential software procurement opportunities;
  • Liaise with material and equipment suppliers;
  • Produce and develop project BOQs and material take-off;
  • Management of marine team project related finances;
  • Responsibility for the resourcing and utilisation of office staff.


Other information:

Qualifications
  • Masters level in Civil / Structural Engineering, Coastal Processes, Hydraulic Engineering or similar;
  • Chartered level in ICE, CIWEM or equivalent;
  • Min 6-10 years of industry experience with a minimum of 3 years direct offshore pipeline and subsea design experience.
Attributes
  • Experience of working in the GCC \xe2\x80\x93 particularly in UAE, KSA and Bahrain;
  • Broad experience in marine structural design, coastal processes design, numerical modelling studies and an understanding of environmental engineering;
  • Proven delivery of projects both technically and financially;
