Senior Engineer Field Instruments

Job Description

Due to anticipated growth throughout 2023, Wood is presently inviting Expressions of Interest for Senior Engineer-Field Instruments for our Abu Dhabi Engineering team. This role is subject to project award which is estimated to be in early 2023.

Responsibilities:

+ Provide technical expertise related to Instrument & Control engineering associated with Package Units and Field Instruments

+ Ensure Instrument & Control design and engineering compliance with relevant codes, standards, Project Specifications and Company standards

+ Coordinate, monitor and assist with the Instrument & Control design and engineering performed by the EPC2 contractor and the EPC2 subcontractors as per project requirements and complete the same within the associated required time frames

+ Work with other discipline engineers within IPMT, EPC2 contractor and with client Operations/Site Interface Focal Person and make recommendations for improvements in proposed designs, philosophies, specifications, work practices, work processes, organization, etc

+ Arrange internal audit of Instrument & Control engineering activities on a periodic basis and provide recommendations to the Sr Instrument Engineer/I&C Team Leader/Engineering Manager and other responsible parties on how to improve activities/practices

+ Work as the focal point for coordinating / resolving issues related to EPC2 field instruments and package units working with all necessary parties (Client personnel, Third Party Certification Agencies, EPC-2 contractor and subcontractors, etc) and maintaining effective, professional and cordial relationships with all parties concerned to ensure that the set time schedules are met

+ Assist with and coordinate Field Instrument and Package Unit design activities with the EPC2 contractor and its subcontractors according to Client and the project engineering execution strategies, specifications and procedures

+ Perform required Engineering activities in close coordination with IPMT I&C, Telecom, SPI Administrator and other Discipline Engineers, EPC2 contractor, EPC2 subcontractors, Client personnel and Client Drawing Office in accordance with project specifications, procedures, standards and project goals

+ Review and provide comments on Instrument & Control engineering deliverables prepared by EPC contractor or his sub-contractors as applicable and as required

+ Interact effectively with the EPC2 contractor, EPC2 subcontractors and the project interface personnel to help resolve any interface issues to ensure project requirements are met in a timely manner

+ Assist in the management of design change to ensure that engineering changes are minimized and any necessary modifications are completed safely, effectively and efficiently and are properly documented

+ Communicate regularly with Client Operations and HSE Departments to ensure that the engineering design is acceptable to all user departments

+ Participate in discussion/agreements between contractor, Client Operation/Site team and other parties

+ Highlight any critical issues to the Senior Instrument Engineer in a timely manner

+ Participate in Project Reviews, Risk assessments etc as applicable for the project from time to time

+ Participate in HAZOP / SIL Workshops, Constructability studies, Project Reviews, Risk assessments etc as applicable for the project from time to time

+ Visit Inspection locations, project facilities, fabrication yards and Client existing facilities as required and necessary throughout the Project

+ Bachelor degree in Engineering or equivalent

+ Up to date knowledge and experience with oil and gas industry eg FF, HART etc

+ Minimum 12 years of experience in Oil & Gas Industry with at least 8 years in the design and engineering of I&C Engineering

+ Sufficient knowledge of control systems, interfaces and installation practices

+ Experience of Engineering Execution, review and approval of technical specifications, design and engineering documents, procedures etc applicable for offshore pipelines & cables

+ It is essential to have work experience on Instrument & Control installations

+ Clear understanding of project specifications and in depth knowledge of applicable offshore Instrument & Control design codes and practices

+ Good knowledge of International Standards, and extensive experience in the field of Engineering

+ Well-developed interpersonal, organizational, analytical, team & networking skills

+ Proven ability to persuade and influence in a positive manner

+ Excellent knowledge of Spoken and Written English
