Job Overview: The Senior Substation Design Engineer will be responsible for complete design and engineering activities related to Control, Protection, SCADA, and associated auxiliary systems for AIS, GIS, and Hybrid GIS substations. The role involves pre-bid and detailed engineering, vendor coordination, design calculations, drawings, reviews, and timely approvals in line with utility and consultant specifications.
Job Responsibilities

• Lead and execute Control & Protection design for AIS/GIS substations ranging from 66kV to 400kV.
• Perform pre-bid and detailed engineering for EPC projects, including technical inputs for tenders.
• Prepare, review, and approve design calculations, drawings, and material take-offs (MTOs).
• Coordinate with primary, secondary, SCADA, telecom, civil, and MEP disciplines.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, vendors, and subcontractors to resolve design issues.
• Review vendor offers, technical documents, and type test reports for major equipment.
• Support site coordination, site surveys, and design clarifications during execution.
• Participate in cost estimation, engineering quotations, and invoicing support where required.
• Should ensure the Design & Engineering documents and its approvals with best cutting-edge accuracy as per required specification.
• Should be capable of handling all the deliverables for Control & Protection equipment's, associated design calculations. Should ensure the specification compliance is followed through the project cycle.
• Should be able to handle SCADA & Telecommunication system in coordination with vendors & inter disciplinary coordination with primary equipment's.
• Should be responsible for complete Control & Protection design activities of the project for Substation & Process industries.
• Should be responsible for preparation, review, submission, and approval of Control & Protection Design drawings, Design Calculations for CT/VT sizing, Protection Setting Calculations, Wiring schedules etc.
• Should be responsible for coordination with SCADA, Telecommunication suppliers and arranging approvals from Consultant/Clients.
• Responsible for obtaining design approvals timely manner as per project schedule, within maximum of 2 revisions

Job Requirements

• 10-12+ years of experience in substation design and engineering
• Proven experience in AIS, GIS, and Hybrid GIS substations (66kV-400kV)
• Strong exposure to EPC projects, pre-bid engineering, and utility coordination
• MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
• Dialux (Lighting Design) o CymGrid & ETAP (Earthing/Ground Grid Analysis)
• PSCAD (Power System Transient Analysis)
• DEWA/TRANSCO/TAQA/ADDC/FEWA/SEWA/ETIHADWE

Salary AED 16000-20000 (all in) + Family Benefits
