to join our MEP consultancy team and take the lead on the design and coordination of electrical systems for a variety of high-profile building projects. The ideal candidate will bring technical expertise, a proactive approach to multidisciplinary collaboration, and a solid understanding of local authority regulations and international codes.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of
8 years
of relevant experience within an MEP design consultancy environment.
Strong knowledge of local authority requirements (DEWA, ADDC, Civil Defense, etc.) and international standards (IEC, BS, NEC).
Proficiency in design tools such as AutoCAD, Revit MEP, Dialux, and electrical load calculation software (e.g., ETAP, Amtech).
Professional registration or membership (e.g., IEEE, IET, or local engineering society) is preferred.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead electrical design efforts from concept through to detailed design and IFC stages, ensuring technical quality and code compliance.
Develop and review lighting layouts, power distribution systems, cable sizing, panel schedules, fire alarm, grounding systems, and low-current systems.
Prepare detailed design documentation including drawings, load schedules, technical specifications, and design reports.
Coordinate closely with mechanical, architectural, structural, and specialist consultants to produce fully integrated MEP designs.
Review and approve contractors' shop drawings, technical submittals, and method statements to ensure alignment with design intent and standards.
Liaise with statutory authorities to secure design approvals and ensure project compliance with all regulatory requirements.
Provide technical support to site teams during construction, including addressing RFIs, reviewing as-built drawings, and participating in testing and commissioning activities.
Support value engineering and design optimization initiatives without compromising system performance or code compliance.
Participate in regular design coordination meetings, client presentations, and progress reviews.
Lead internal design reviews and mentor junior electrical engineers to uphold quality and consistency in all deliverables.
Assist in evaluating contractor variation claims, identify potential risks, and support resolution of design-related issues.
Prepare and contribute to tender documentation including BOQs, performance specifications, and bid clarifications.
Conduct final inspections, participate in snagging and handover processes, and review O&M manuals for completeness and accuracy.
