Job Description

To oversee the Prime Contractor (PC) and Sub-contractors/Sub-suppliers to ensure the Mechanical construction and installation activities for the Barakah Nuclear Power Plant (BNPP) are performed in accordance with the contract terms and conditions to the highest safety and quality standards while achieving cost and schedule plans.

Activity: Recommendations and Decisions

Responsibility:

• Provide safety, quality and schedule oversight in order to ensure appropriate oversight for all Power Block and permanent plant mechanical equipment installation and erection, which includes but is not limited to; containment liner plate (CLP), pump house trash screens, volutes, pumps, motors, vessels, tanks, reactor pressure vessel, steam generators, pressurizer, turbine, stator frame, condensers, fuelling machine, airlocks, Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC), storage tanks, and diesel generators.
• Carry out equipment performance test and commissioning procedures.
• Understand and analyze the equipment vibration readings.
• Define and recommend suggestions to help making decisions that meet project objectives.
• Recommend corrective actions or methods of repair for any deficiency or non-conformance identified in order to ensure work is carried out in an adequate and correct manner.
• Monitor project safety objectives, and implement the appropriate corrective action where necessary in order to ensure that all relevant objectives are fulfilled.

Activity: Initiative

Responsibility:

• Take the necessary initiatives aiming at establishing, implementing and maintaining the oversight of Mechanical construction activities to ensure timely project completion
• Convey and present ideas for the overall project benefit to support ENEC's goals and objectives.
• Recommend stoppage of work when the required quality or safety of work operations are in doubt in order to ensure work excellence and ethics regarding safety measures.

Activity: Mechanical Construction Oversight

Responsibility:

• Ensure that the Mechanical construction work is performed in the safest and professional manner to meet overall project objectives in compliance with relevant policies and regulations.
• Monitor the Mechanical construction work progress and its alignment with the quality requirements as specified by the Engineering design to ensure that project objectives are met in a timely manner.
• Oversee the Prime Contractor in order to ensure expectations are met in the execution of build clean, foreign material exclusion, housekeeping and preservation programs in the construction of SSC's.
• Support the theme of Plan-Do-Check-Act process, and reflect this in department procedures, processes and execution of the BNPP works.
• Inform and report all issues that may effect on project progress to the Head of Construction Mechanical & Piping.

Responsibility:

• Facilitate communication both internally and externally in order to build and nurture mutually beneficial working relationships.

Activity: HSE

Responsibility:

• Follow all relevant company's HSE policies, processes, procedures and instructions to ensure HSE compliance in all aspects of work in accordance with sound management practices by applying these HSE policies and procedures to self and others to take reasonable care for the health and safety of people, or the environment, who are at the employee's place of work who may be affected by the employees acts or omissions at work.

Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or High School Diploma with relevant Nuclear Power Plant work experience
• Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in NPP construction and engineering industry and or experience on large capital projects and in similar/related position in the UAE, GCC region or worldwide
