Looking to take the next step in your career? Hatch is currently seeking a highly motivated Senior Civil Engineer to join our Dynamic Earth Solutions Group (DES) in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

Summary

The Senior Civil Engineer will be part of an engineering team providing engineering services to varying from large to small projects.

The Senior Civil Engineer is responsible for preparing engineering calculations, technical specifications, data sheets, reports and drawings as required for both front end planning studies and the detailed engineering phase for multi-disciplinary projects. In the role of Senior Civil Engineer, the role provides support to the Engineering Manager and is responsible for supervising a team of civil, hydrotechnical, geotechnical, civil structures and marine structures engineers, designers, draftspersons, and GIS analysts, initially considering coordinating with teams in other Hatch offices.

The Senior Civil Engineer provides leadership and assists in the resolution of all technical issues related to the discipline. The Senior Civil Engineer participates in a wide range of projects that may cover earthworks, road and rail design and associated bridges, airstrips, villages, marine terminals, utilities including pump stations, dams, drainage and permanent way layouts for both front end planning and the detailed engineering phase for multi-discipline projects. They should have a broad understanding of these overall civil infrastructure requirements on projects and how these could be connected to public utilities and infrastructure, as well as internally within client plant networks. Particular knowledge on industrial/mining/ports projects will be beneficial in the role.

The role will require strong leadership, coordination and decision-making skills and the candidate will be required to work independently and take full responsibility for all civil related scope on projects.

You will bring to the role:

Key Responsibilities

• Assist the Lead CSA Engineer or Engineering Manager with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, quantities, cost and schedule.
• Prepare Engineering Work Packages (EWPs) in consultation with the Lead CSA Engineer or Engineering Manager.
• Prepare /assign work tasks (via signed off EWPs) to individuals and continuously monitor progress and quality.
• Develop the civil manpower schedule to be part of the engineering and project schedule in conjunction with the other disciplines.
• Develop the civil work plan for insertion into the project specific execution plan.
• Develop and maintain the project scope of work documentation.
• Assist in the compilation and delivery of monthly engineering status reports.
• Participate in and contribute to design reviews including coordination of civil designers to ensure that Civil 3D models are correctly integrated into overall models.
• Represent the discipline in the project engineering coordination meetings.
• Prepare and/or review project procedures, standard specifications and design criteria.
• Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers, intermediate engineers, designers, technicians and technologists.
• Perform conceptual and detailed engineering design including draughting where required.
• Prepare engineering calculations and technical specifications.
• Prepare and contribute to technical memos and reports, within areas of expertise.
• Provide input to engineering, operating and capital cost estimates.
• Carry out assigned tasks within budget and schedule.
• Sign documents and drawings as required and if appropriately registered.
• Ensure co-ordination with designers and engineers within the civil discipline and with other disciplines.
• Package engineering including the development of technical package documentation and MTO\'s, evaluation of contractor bids, review and approval of contractor engineering documentation, responses to site queries and requests for concessions.
• Undertake construction supervision and management dependent upon project demands.
• Support of site engineering team to provide technical solutions and timely response to technical queries.
• Work to ensure the implementation of safety in design and integrity principles in design documentation.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential

• A recognized degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• Professional Engineer registered with National or International registered body.
• 10+years\' experience in relevant civil design.
• Extensive experience with the use of AutoCAD and Civil3D.
• Ability to manage and delegate to individuals to attain quality, cost and schedule objectives.
• Experience with working on projects in a multi-disciplinary environment.
• Sound understanding of design engineering codes and technical standards.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good planning and organizational skills.
• Ability to function without supervision.
• Good safety awareness.

Preferred

• Strong client focus.
• Ability to delegate tasks and effectively supervise others.
• Experience in the use of Hatch procedures, adopted standard software (including ProjectWise) and workflows in the execution of projects.
