Job Description

Senior Auditor - Job Responsibilities



1. Audit Planning and Strategy



Lead the planning of audit engagements, ensuring risk-focused coverage and alignment with audit objectives. Develop comprehensive audit programs tailored to the client's operations, industry, and risk profile. Coordinate with clients to gather pre-audit information, understand business processes, and identify key audit areas.

2. Execution of Audit Engagements



Conduct detailed fieldwork, including analytical reviews, substantive testing, and process walkthroughs. Assess the design and effectiveness of internal controls. Evaluate financial statements for compliance with IFRS and applicable regulatory standards. Identify audit issues and prepare supporting documentation for audit findings.

3. Reporting and Communication



Draft professional audit reports highlighting audit observations, implications, and practical recommendations. Present findings to senior management, partners, and/or clients in a clear and constructive manner. Follow up on the implementation of agreed-upon recommendations and action plans.

4. Team Leadership and Supervision



Supervise junior auditors and review their working papers for accuracy and compliance with auditing standards. Coach and mentor audit staff, supporting their professional development and technical competence. Ensure team performance meets quality and timeliness standards.

5. Risk Management and Internal Controls



Evaluate clients' risk management frameworks and internal control systems. Recommend strategies for mitigating financial, operational, and compliance risks. Conduct risk-based reviews on high-impact areas like procurement, payroll, revenue, and inventory management.

6. Compliance and Regulatory Adherence



Ensure audit work is in compliance with International Standards on Auditing (ISA), IFRS, local laws, and internal policies. Monitor developments in auditing and accounting regulations and provide updates to the audit team.

7. Client and Stakeholder Management



Build and maintain strong working relationships with client personnel, partners, and external stakeholders. Address client concerns with professionalism and provide value-added advisory support.

8. Corporate Tax Responsibilities



Review and validate the accuracy of corporate tax computations and ensure compliance with UAE Corporate Tax Law and international tax standards (e.g., OECD guidelines, BEPS). Conduct tax risk assessments during audit engagements to identify potential exposures and provide tax planning suggestions. Assist in the preparation and review of corporate tax returns, ensuring timely filing and documentation. Advise clients on structuring transactions to optimize tax efficiency and remain compliant with economic substance and transfer pricing requirements. Prepare and review

Transfer Pricing Documentation

, including Local File, Master File, and Benchmarking Analysis as required under UAE regulations. Monitor regulatory changes in UAE Corporate Tax and Free Zone Tax regimes and provide clients with timely updates. Support in responding to FTA queries, tax audits, or clarifications, and assist in dispute resolution if required.

9. Technology and Tools Utilization



Leverage audit and tax software tools (e.g., CaseWare, Excel models, data analytics platforms) for efficiency and quality assurance. Promote automation of recurring audit and tax tasks where applicable.

10. Special Assignments



Participate in special engagements, including forensic audits, due diligence reviews, VAT audits, and internal control redesign projects. Support cross-functional projects with tax, finance, and compliance teams.

QualificationsEducation:



Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (mandatory). A professional qualification such as

ACCA, CPA, CA, or ICAEW

(preferred or required depending on role level). Additional certification in

Taxation

(e.g., ADIT) or

Transfer Pricing

is a plus.

Experience:



Minimum of

3-6 years

of progressive experience in external or internal auditing. Strong exposure to

corporate tax compliance

, especially under

UAE Federal Tax Authority (FTA)

guidelines. Proven track record of supervising audit teams and managing audit engagements independently. Experience with audit clients in sectors such as real estate, trading, professional services, or manufacturing is advantageous.

Skills:



In-depth knowledge of

IFRS

ISA

, and UAE Corporate Tax Law. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication abilities. Ability to manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and handle pressure. Proficiency in audit tools and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with

audit software like CaseWare

is desirable.
