Architect duties and responsibilities
Architects are responsible for ensuring that their project is completed on time and to the correct specifications. They are also responsible for health and safety concerns, the structural integrity of properties and meeting budget requirements. Other duties and responsibilities include:
Selecting appropriate locations for new construction projects to take place
Drawing up detailed plans that meet the local council's Building Regulations and requirements for Planning Permission
Presenting detailed schematics, plans and budgets to Project Managers, investors or other key collaborators
Designing new buildings that are energy efficient and meet environmental standards and regulations
Designing projects to preserve local environmental concerns, such as local wildlife habitats or nesting sites
Selecting key contractors and workers who can successfully carry out the project
Overseeing construction sites and resolving problems during the building phase of a project
Keeping a construction project running on time and within budget
