Job Description

POSITION TITLE: Senior Accountant with Hotel Experience Summary Description: As a Chief Accountant you are responsible for maintaining the General Ledger and the preparation of monthly financial statements, and he/she must have a complete understanding all hotel operations and finances and maintain a good working relationship with other departments in the hotel. Your role needs you to adhere to policies and procedures ensuring the smooth functioning of the Financial Department and will include key responsibilities such as: A) Responsibilities and Duties: Preparation of Financial Statements
  • Supervises timely preparation of monthly financial statements and reports in line with SLIM & holding company requirements.
Ensures completeness and accuracy of postings to general ledger and sub-ledgers. Ensures accounts receivable and payable sub-ledgers balance to general ledger. Reviews all journal entries including recurring journal entries. Checks bank reconciliation statements monthly. Collects information and reports from other departments for month-end closing. Checks fixed assets register for provision of depreciation and reconciles with general ledger. Reviews general ledger transactions and trial balance abnormalities. Reviews expenses and balance sheet item schedules for completeness and accuracy. Prepares the monthly financial statements and operating reports together with financial analyses and statistics. Provides analyses on variances between actual and budget figures and follow up on material discrepancies. Oversees leasing and sub-rental accounts.
  • Reviews schedules of leases and sub-rental agreements.
  • Monitor the billing of lease charges and collection of sub-rentals.
  • Reports and follows up discrepancies and irregularities.
  • Controls capital expenditures and special repairs and maintenance budgets.
  • Reviews monthly capital expenditure reports.
  • Reports to FC on any deviations from policies.
  • Ensures capital expenditure reports completed in accordance with set schedule.
  • Coordinates tax computations, provisions and reporting.
  • Reviews tax computations and provisions.
  • Communicates with tax consultants on tax computation and returns.
  • Supervises the reporting and payment of taxes.
Operations of Accounting Department
  • Supervises and monitors the operations of Accounting Department.
Supervises Revenue Audit section: a) Ensures all revenue and receipt transactions are properly accounted for and deposited into banks. b) Reviews summaries, reports and journals prepared by Revenue Auditor and Night Auditor. c) Checks Daily Hotel Revenue Report. Supervises Accounts Payable section: a) Oversees timely arrangements of payments by cheques, bank autopays & remittances. b) Ensures payments are properly supported & authorised. c) Reviews cheque register, vendor listing, creditors log and reports. Supervises Payroll section: a) Checks if monthly payroll is properly supported, authorised and reconciled. b) Ensures personnel data are correctly recorded in payroll record. c) Oversees the submissions of employers\xe2\x80\x99 tax returns required by statutes. Supervises filing and authorisation on disposal of documents. Complies with the requirements of the controller\xe2\x80\x99s checklist. Leadership Sets and maintains service standards.   • Sets priorities & prepares monthly plans.

  • To perform any additional requirement, tasks and duties outside of his/her scope of work as deemed necessary Immediate Manager or Supervisor.

  • Ensures timely reporting of malfunction or maintenance deficiency to appropriate area.

  • Maintains clean surroundings.
  • Participates in activities concerning the protection of the environment.
