Senior Accountant - Lead Financial Operations and Strategy
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced **Senior Accountant** to oversee financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards, and provide strategic financial guidance to support organizational goals. This role involves managing day-to-day accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and supervising junior accounting staff to maintain efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
Key Responsibilities
- **Financial Reporting and Analysis**
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports
- Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost-saving or growth
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management review
- **General Ledger Management**
- Maintain and oversee the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded and reconciled accurately
- Manage month-end and year-end closing processes
- **Budgeting and Forecasting**
- Develop, monitor, and manage budgets in alignment with organizational goals
- Provide financial forecasts and assist in strategic planning processes
- **Tax Compliance and Audit**
- Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, including VAT filings and other statutory requirements
- Coordinate with auditors and prepare documentation for annual audits
- **Accounts Payable and Receivable**
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable functions to ensure timely payments and collections
- Monitor cash flow and effectively manage working capital
- **Team Leadership and Development**
- Supervise and mentor junior accounting staff, fostering professional development
- Conduct training sessions on financial policies and compliance best practices
- **Internal Controls and Compliance**
- Establish and enforce internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial reporting
- Review and update accounting policies and procedures as needed
- **Collaboration with Other Departments**
- Work closely with other departments to support financial decision-making
- Provide financial guidance on operational activities
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in **Accounting, Finance, or a related field**
- CPA, ACCA, or other professional certification preferred
- Minimum of **5 years of experience** in accounting or finance, preferably within the **food industry**
- Strong knowledge of **accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws**
- Proficiency in **accounting software** and **Microsoft Excel**
- Excellent **analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and communication skills**
