About the job Senior Accountant Audit

Our client is an environmental technologies company that provides water and wastewater equipment packages and treatment solutions. They are seeking a Senior Accountant to support their activities in the Middle East region.

The Sr. Accountant is expected to be the point of reference for project staff, management, and the corporate team alike. Responsible for all activities around maintaining records of all transactions, processing payments, following up with receivables. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned professional with good communication skills capable of handling interface with the internal team as well as external resources and clients. Candidate shall be familiar with international and regional accounting and finance norms and be responsible for compliance with internal governance policies as well as regulatory requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Enter and maintain all transaction records in the accounting module of the ERP
• Review and contribute to restructuring of the accounting module of the ERP
• Determine proper company filing schedule based on available information
• Liaise with Finance team to ensure audits are completed promptly and accurately
• Work closely with auditors to prepare and review reports.
• Collaborate with finance personnel to develop approaches for creating more-accurate financial records and models for the company
• File VAT and ESR quarterly and annually.
• Work with Accounts and Finance team to develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls
• Ensure compliance with IFRS/GAAP principles
• Assess internal controls, including risk assessments and reviews of risk areas
• Computing standard cost of product/service by collecting production data as well as analyzing past production trends
• Performing production variance analysis on a regular basis to identify production discrepancies and accordingly, revising production plans
• Preparing annual budget and forecasting trends
• Designing & developing costing & profitability models to be implemented in ERP system.
• Understanding of both Time and Material (T&M) and Percent of Completion for Fixed Price revenue recognition type contracts
• Assist with Project Setup, Project Monitoring, ERP System updating and closeout
• Assist with the preparation and update of the Estimate at Completion (EAC) for projects
• Perform project analysis and prepare reports upon request
• Prepare unbilled analysis
• Project maintenance and various updates
• Maintain bill rate schedules
• Routine report preparation
• Overhead rates, reserves, and other project analysis reports
• Customer set-up and maintenance
• Entering and updating budgets in the system
• Maintain and reconciling fixed assets schedules
• Work with project teams to prepare and submit invoices
• Prepare SOA for vendors and customers
• Follow up with customers to minimize outstanding payments
• Create visualizations that convey accurate financial views of the project

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Proven experience as a Cost Controller, Project Accountant, Chief or Senior accountant
• Thorough knowledge of basic accounting procedures
• In-depth understanding of IFRS/GAAP
• Familiarity with financial accounting statements
• Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
• Hands-on experience with accounting software packages, ERPs like Dynamics 365, Zoho Books or equivalent
• Advanced MS Excel skills including Vlookups and pivot tables
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
• Excellent communication, writing and computer skills
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to multi-task
• Good teamworking skills
• Ability to develop, read and interpret standards and procedures for maintaining best practices
• Responsiveness & sense of urgency
• Able to work under pressure & maintain deadlines
• Excellent negotiation skills

Education and/or Experience:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent
• Chartered Accountant qualification
• 5-7 years experience in roles with similar responsibilities.
• Audit experience
• Exposure to Manufacturing and/or Construction Industry
• ACCA, CPA or CA certification.
