An SEN school in Bermondsey are recruiting for positive, dedicated, patient and outgoing SEN Teaching Assistants to support children and young people with complex SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs) and Autism / ASC. About us – Our Bermondsey site is a Highly valued SEND school that provides a personalised education for children with complex SEMH and SEN needs, supporting them with a variety of learning, communication, cognitive and interaction difficulties including Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, dyslexia, physical complexities and mental health. Our SEN teaching assistants provide highly professional tailored 1-1 and small group support to our pupils in a classroom setting along with elevating and raising the children's spirits to create a fun and positive learning environment that staff and student alike can thrive. Position Summary – As a Trainee/Experienced SEN teaching Assistant you will be passionate about positive change and development when it comes to a child’s education. The main responsibility will be to perform ongoing 1-1 and group support to SEN students in a classroom setting with the aim to encourage their engagement in learning as well as promoting their personal and social development. You will work alongside and collaborate with other SEND support workers with the shared vision to provide effective therapeutic alternative education. Benefits of the role –

What we are looking for – The successful candidate will ideally (not required) have a minimum of 1 year experience of working in either psychiatric unit, Health & Social Care, residential or youth offending settings. Additional ability to provide academic support to pupils as well as pastoral care They will be optimistic, outgoing, patient, caring and ability to contribute towards positive change. As a SEN teaching Assistant, you will have the ability to engage children in creative tasks that will enhance their learning and development. The ability to think out of the box and be enthusiastic as well as adaptable to different situations. Additional trait to be able to remain calm under pressure and be dedicated to the pupil’s welfare and development. The ideal candidate for the role will be based in the surrounding areas of Bermondsey and will have transferable skills or relevant experience.
