SEN Teacher (Special Educational Needs)
Position Overview:
The SEN Teacher provides specialized support and intervention for children with identified special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). They work closely with staff, parents, and external professionals to ensure inclusive practice and tailored learning pathways.
Key Responsibilities:

• Assessment & Planning: Conduct detailed assessments to identify specific needs, strengths, and challenges. Develop, implement, and review individualized education plans (IEPs) or personal learning goals.
• Specialist Teaching: Provide targeted one-on-one or small-group interventions using specialized strategies and resources (e.g., for speech/language, social skills, sensory integration, or motor development).
• Staff Support & Training: Act as an in-house expert, advising and training nursery staff on differentiation, adaptive teaching strategies, and effective inclusion practices within the classroom.
• Multi-Agency Collaboration: Liaise with external specialists (e.g., speech and language therapists, educational psychologists, occupational therapists) and coordinate their recommendations within the nursery setting.
• Parent Partnership: Work sensitively and collaboratively with parents of children with SEND, offering guidance, support, and clear communication about progress and strategies.

Person Specification:

• Recognized teaching qualification (QTS or equivalent) with additional specialization in SEND (e.g., Postgraduate Certificate in SEN).
• Extensive experience working with young children with a range of SEND.
• Knowledge of relevant SEND codes of practice and legislation.
• Patience, empathy, and superb problem-solving and advocacy skills.
