Job Announcement Segment Producer

The Middle East Broadcasting Networks, Inc. (MBN) is seeking a Segment Producer for our Al Youm Department at Dubai office in Dubai, UAE. MBN is a non-profit grantee of the federal government that directly communicates with the people of the Middle East and North Africa through television, radio, and digital media. MBN's mission is to provide objective, accurate, and relevant news and information to the people of the Middle East about the region, the world, and the United States in support of U.S. public diplomacy. The Segment Producer for Alywam is responsible for conceiving, producing, compelling political, business and human-interest stories / segments. Plan, commission and depict stories with fixers/reporters. Maintain a scheduled events and take care of all audiovisual aspects of the segment production insuring the highest standards of Television. Research, develop and pitch stories that reflect the ambitious and unique sensibility of the show.The Segment Producer for Alywam is responsible for conceiving, producing, compelling political, business and human-interest stories / segments. Research, develop and pitch stories that reflect the ambitious and unique sensibility of the show. The primary duties and responsibilities of the Segment Producer include, but are not limited to: Organizes and coordinates daily/weekly/monthly coverage and show agenda including communicating with News assignment desk. Prioritizes and communicates assignments to fixers/correspondents in liaison with Program planning editor and after the producers' approval. Communicates daily story development with Senior Producer or producers while keeping track of commissioned stories with news assignment desk. Reads, edits and approves script/copy to ensure that it is free from slanderous, libelous, and materials. Concept development for design, graphics, evaluation, storytelling, and sound. Helps fixers/reporters find interviews for their stories. Proactively makes decisions in planning and executing special projects and oversees the logistical efforts made or contemplated for those events and ensures that appropriate personnel are assigned to the special projects/coverage as needed. Ensures all production elements are of high production value and meet editorial standards. Discusses the storyboard of every story commissioned with reporters/fixers Gathers and maintains contact information needed for specific events and maintaining a list of possible alternate vendors or personnel. Maintains financial records, including rate cards, expenditures, and proposed expenditures relating to the special project. Assists on new innovative projects and initiatives when directed. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's degree in journalism/broadcast journalism. At least 3-5 years of experience in live television (i.e. morning shows, cable shows, broadcast TV, etc). Experience producing long-form TV magazine and show segments with proven record of picture production, sequences and grammar. Strong project management skills required to ensure product meets objectives while maintaining budget and schedule targets. Excellent Arabic verbal and written communication skills. Exhibits quality shot making and graphic/visual sense. Strong editorial judgement. Ability to accommodate flexible work schedule to support 24/7 news environment including overnight coverage
