About the role:
As the Security Operations Manager, you will assist the Senior Manager of Security Operations in implementing Group Security strategic plans and driving high levels of performance within the Security Operations Team in the Qatar Airways (QR) Integrated Operations Center (IOC). You will provide subject matter expertise (SME) in aviation operational security issues to relevant QR Group stakeholders at the Integrated Operations Center, IOC Senior Manager, and Airport Services Managers or their deputies across the network for safe and secure airline operations in accordance with all security directives, instructions, and procedures issued by Vice President Security as well as the Airline Operator Security Program local/international regulations. You will be responsible for:
  • Operational support, advice, and guidance to network on airline security matters and when required at Hub.
  • Represent QR Security at the IOC in all security operational issues and offer advice security guidance and support where applicable.
  • Monitor security intelligence advisories and escalate as needed to the security management team.
  • Review Standard Operating Procedures on a regular basis to ensure they are current, and relevant, and update them as needed
  • Provide security guidance to network stations for the implementation of Enhanced Security Measures (ESM).
  • Disseminate security advisories received from the Threat and Risk team to relevant stakeholders.
  • Supervise and monitor Breathalyser Test and Right of Search conducted on the crew at QRIOC.
  • Plan and coordinate drug tests for the crew at QRIOC.
  • Plan and a coordinate outstation Breathalyser test.
  • Handle on a daily basis the security-related occurrences/reports - liaise with the concerned stations/departments in order to gather the necessary information to prepare the "Security Response" to security operational incidents at network stations.
  • Conduct preliminary investigations into various security operational occurrences at network stations as needed.
  • Facilitate and coordinate local security law enforcement agency investigations.
Qualifications
About you: An ideal candidate will have:
  • a minimum of a relevant College or University Bachelor’s Degree with at least 6 years of job-related experience
  • Ability to work well within a small, very busy, team as well as independently
  • Proactive in identifying and responding to issues and challenges that arise
  • Great at communicating, and know how to identify, analyze, manage and monitor relationships with and between stakeholders
  • Strong logical and creative thinking skills, ability resolve problems as they occur using the most appropriate course of action.
  • Calm under pressure and ‘Self-starter’ with high levels of personal resilience and an ability to learn quickly and adapt to changing demands Integrity and confidentiality
  • Ability to understand and absorb considerable amounts of technical detail and can easily interpret the latest international aviation security regulatory requirements
  • Excellent English, spoken and written, and you are adept at simplifying complex messages
  • Experience developing standard operating procedures
  • Well versed in the principles of quality management / evaluation systems
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to coach and lead teams to improve workplace efficiency, including the use of software systems and databases. You can identify, propose, initiate and lead these programmes to completion
  • Great ability with data. You know how to manipulate it and how to present it in a clear and compelling way, using visual means. You can present, communicate and disseminate data effectively
  • Great at exercising diplomacy
  • Expert in the use of Microsoft Office applications
Preferred
  • Experience of working in an aviation security operations team, including liaison with and working with law enforcement agencies
  • Previous experience of airline, airport or aircraft operations
  • A working knowledge of the aviation security environment
  • Working knowledge of ICAO Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) relevant to the Aviation Security specialty; i.e., ICAO Annex 17 to the Convention on ICAO (Chicago Convention), ICAO Security Manual for the Safeguarding of Civil Aviation from Acts of Unlawful Interference (Doc 8973)
  • Experience working in an international environment, with people from diverse cultural backgrounds
