ABOUT THE ROLELiberty Speciality Steels currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Section Engineer to join the business based at our Aldwarke Cast Products site in Rotherham.The Mechanical Section Engineer will take full responsibility for leading and supporting a highly skilled, multi-disciplined team providing a Mechanical Engineering service to the Aldwarke Cast Products operation, enabling the department to perform within agreed standards. The postholder will ensure continuous improvement in standards of engineering, health and safety, and environmental performance, ensuring that set business objectives are met.Provide the technical and management expertise necessary to direct, lead and support a highly skilled, multi-disciplined team providing a Mechanical Engineering service to the Aldwarke Cast Products Steelmaking operation, which will enable the Department to operate at a level of availability and performance within agreed standards.The Mechanical Section Engineer must have the technical, operational and practical experience to make immediate, considered judgements in breakdown situations, paying due regard to the safety and financial implications. This is against a background of continual pressure to satisfy and improve production requirements all of which could lead to out of hours working. The postholder will also deputise for the Lead Engineer in their absence.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe Mechanical Section Engineer will undertake the following duties and responsibilities;To deliver Engineering Excellence within ACP by using a framework covering: - Asset Integrity - targeting the loss of containment across plant areas.Improvement of maintenance practices using the CAMF process to give dependable processes.CAPEX optimisation and deliveryTechnological improvements and best Procurement practicesTo ensure that the Engineering Department achieves optimum plant availability. Recommends and directs actions to correct adverse deviations.To monitor annual engineering expenditure in accordance with defined standards.and negotiate contracts as required.Continuous monitoring/appraisal of plant and equipment performance, compilation and presentation of capital expenditure submissions to improve plant performance, availability, reduce costs and improve plant assets.Ensure that all legislative requirements are satisfied by establishing and maintaining statutory.and mandatory equipment registers. Ensure regular monitoring and maintenance of environmental control equipment. Direct and authorise future design and development requirements to meet strategy and capital plans across Aldwarke Cast Products.Keep abreast of new technology and new techniques in process development and product improvement.Establish and maintain high standards of discipline, safety and housekeeping by monitoring and review of performance..REQUIRED SKILLSThe role requires an individual who is capable of managing, motivating, and developing engineering workforce.They should be a strong communicator, effective man-manager and possess good leadership skills.An engineering degree is preferred, together with proven experience at a supervisory or management level.Detailed knowledge of Health and Safety and Environment legislation is required with an ability to implement the requirements.An up-to-date knowledge of steelmaking and casting techniques and modern maintenance philosophies and practices would be beneficial.BENEFITS35 days holidayCompetitive pension schemeIncome ProtectionLife Assurance
