School Context Located in the Remraam Community, around 25 minutes from Downtown Dubai, South View School is a British international school catering for children from over 70 nationalities aged 3-16 years (FS1-Y10). Year 11 (IGCSE) opens at the school in August 2022 for a cohort who will enter university in August 2026 after completing either A level or vocational qualifications at SVS. The focus of the school is on nurturing curious, kind individuals and helping them achieve personal success across a broad spectrum of criteria. A solid, empathic and supportive pastoral spine and a personal, bespoke approach to learning lies at our heart. South View School is highly inclusive with an ever-expanding Student Support Team. Despite only being a 4 year old school, staff and pupil turnover is well below 5% which is a source of considerable pride for all. Job Detail Due to very high demand, we are growing rapidly and seek a Secondary School SENCo to join our Student Support Team in January 2023. This is an exciting opportunity to join our expanding Student Support Department and build on the strong foundations that have been implemented so far. This leader should hold a strong curriculum knowledge base in the UK National Curriculum. The successful candidate will join the Primary School SENCo and be line managed by the Whole School Head of Student Support. The ideal candidate will:
  • Demonstrate a passion for learning and teaching
  • Hold some leadership experience within inclusion
  • Have experience in teaching students with a range of learning difficulties
  • Have strong pastoral skills and experience in supporting students with behavioural, social and emotional differences
  • Have experience in using standardised assessments and screening tools to identify barriers to learning
  • Be able to set, support and track progress against an Individual Education Plan
  • Have experience in delivering the Asdan curriculum (desirable)
  • Hold a recognised teaching degree with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
  • Hold an additional qualification in SEND
  • Hold the required qualifications to apply for and manage access arrangements for the school (CPT3A)
