The American International School - Riyadh is seeking an experienced Nurse to join our school community. The candidate must be a Saudi licensed nurse, currently residing in Riyadh. Candidates must possess experience with Diabetic patient management. English fluency is a must to be considered for this role as responsibilities also include health promotion and education.
Must-have qualifications
The candidate must be licensed by the Saudi Commission For Health Specialities (SCFHS)
The ideal candidate can fill this position immediately to start on August 14
The candidate must be a resident of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia
The candidate must be under the sponsorship of spouse (as a dependent)
The level of English proficiency must be: Fluent/Bilingual
The ideal candidate must be comfortable with diabetic child/student management
Qualifications:
Minimum: Registered Nurse (current licensure preferred—ADN, BSN, or MSN)
School nurse experience preferred.
Pediatric and/or emergency nursing experience.
Ability to manage diabetic children
Ability to teach life-saving skills (American Red Cross or American Heart Association) or the willingness to attain qualification within 4 months of start date preferred
Demonstrated commitment to health education.
Performance Responsibilities:
Provides direct physical health care to students, including assessing and rendering first aid and emergency care;
Provides leadership for the provision of health services as a healthcare expert;
Records accurately the date, time, and services rendered for each student for whom health services are provided;
Maintains in Skyward current health files on all students and provides referrals as necessary to teachers and principals;
Serves as a liaison between school personnel, family, community, and health care providers regarding physical health concerns of children;
Monitors and aids in the management of medication (including insulin) in emergency and non-emergency scenarios;
Coordinates vision-screening clinics yearly for Elementary students;
Leads and participates in the teaching of dental hygiene yearly to Elementary students;
Promotes health and safety through education about healthy practices;
Develops and conducts staff training programs (including but not limited to CPR, Heimlich maneuver, asthma, and first aid);
Develops, maintains, and monitors a Rapid Response Team;
Promotes a healthy school environment;
Identifies and addresses actual and potential health and safety problems;
Acts as a role model in the promotion of healthy lifestyles;
Orders and maintains an office space to provide health care and first aid;
Inventories and orders necessary supplies to provide appropriate health care and first aid;
Reports to the supervisor all student issues/ailments and does not keep information “confidential”;
Informs divisional principal(s) and Superintendent when medical emergencies arise;
Abides by agreed-upon “Guidelines for Nurse’s Office” found in ES/MS/HS handbooks;
Perform other duties as assigned by the divisional principals.
Maintains a Health Office eBinder to include all daily/monthly responsibilities, letters, educational curriculum, powerpoints/slideshows, etc.
