ISP School Doctor Role Profile
Purpose of Role To play a vital role in promoting and safeguarding the health and wellbeing of all students, enabling them to thrive and participate fully in school life. As a key member of our school community, the School Doctor will work closely with staff and families to create a safe, supportive, and healthy environment. ISP Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality immediate and emergency medical care to students and staff during school hours. Promote student health and wellbeing to support full participation in school life. Assess and treat illnesses or injuries with the goal of safely returning students to their routines as soon as appropriate. Coordinate safe arrangements for students or staff who need to go home or seek external medical care, in collaboration with school leadership. Administer medications strictly according to school policyaEUR"only with clearly labeled prescriptions and written parental consent, using approved school forms. Maintain safe, hygienic, and compliant procedures for the storage, use, and disposal of medical supplies and medications. Conduct basic health assessments and checks when needed to support early identification of health concerns. Ensure first aid kits are distributed and maintained across the school, and that essential medications (e.g., EpiPens) are accessible, properly stored, and signposted. Oversee the readiness and functionality of life-saving equipment throughout the school campus. Keep detailed and confidential medical records, student health files, and clinic visit logs in accordance with DHA regulations. Manage the availability of essential emergency medications in designated areas beyond the school clinic. Coordinate with local health authorities on the planning and delivery of immunization programs and health checks. Build strong, supportive relationships with families, offering guidance in line with the schoolaEUR(TM)s health and wellbeing policies. Participate in the development and implementation of school health protocols, policies, and care plans. Offer training and guidance to staff on managing students with specific medical needs and conditions. Work closely with pastoral and teaching teams to support the overall welfare of students, including regular updates on children requiring special medical attention. Maintain digital health records and ensure timely documentation and reporting of student health data. Take initiative in health-related communication with families, ensuring clarity and confidentiality in all matters. Operate independently with clinical confidence, as on-site medical backup may not be immediately available. Contribute actively to the broader life of the school community and uphold a strong commitment to safeguarding and compliance with DHA and KHDA standards.
Skills, Qualifications and Experience Experience, Knowledge and Key Skills
5+ years of post-licensure clinical experience, preferably within school, pediatric, or community health settings (UAE experience preferred). Strong clinical knowledge and practical experience in preventative care, emergency response, and child and adolescent health. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to clearly convey medical information to students, staff, and families. Proven ability to analyze medical situations, assess risk, and respond promptly and effectively in both routine and urgent care scenarios. Proficient in using MS Office for documentation and reporting; familiarity with electronic medical record systems or data dashboards is a plus. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary school team. Experience in school or educational settings is highly desirable.
Qualifications
Must hold a valid DHA (Dubai Health Authority) license. Preference will be given to candidates who: Are on family or own sponsorship. Have prior experience working in a similar role within a school setting in Dubai.
