Job Description

As a Sales Engineer you will be responsible for generating enquires, providing quotation to the client with all necessary information related to product & services offered and to close the sale in the assigned region.

As a Sales Engineer you are responsible for:
  • To create an awareness of Gates E & S amongst clients and potential customers by providing information on Gates' product range, expertise in providing solution to turnkey projects and related services.
  • Identify customer requirements and offer Gates E & S scope of supply and explore new areas of business development. Ensure high level of customer satisfaction through effective customer service, technical assistance & prompt after sales service.
  • Collect enquires from the customer with all relevant information to able to send a quote to the client.
  • Provide good Interface between the company & client for all required information
  • Prepare quotations, requested by HOD, Geomarket Manager.
  • In case of contracts to read, interpret & understand all requirements of the customer.
  • Report and document the activities carried out in line with the documentation requirements of the company.
  • Follow up with the customer in case of additional information required & win the contract.
  • To ensure that all company procedures are followed with regard to raising and processing of sales invoices.
  • Ensuring credit terms of customer is updated & followed up for payments.
  • Liaising with Accounts Department to determine level of credit, if any, applicable to an account. Ensuring payment is received from customers for orders completed by Gates E & S.
  • Liaise with Supply Chain & Purchasers to manage the appropriate stocking levels (inventory) to ensure that client orders are fulfilled in a timely manner.
  • Recommend, develop and maintain the customer database, Daily reports, and Competitors activity in the computer system
  • Recommend to maintain all opportunities in correct stages so as to have correct information with management to achieve company objectives.
  • To gain comprehensive insight into technical and commercial aspects of all Gates and Non Gates products, equipment and services that could potentially be offered to the market.
  • Ensure all transactions are carried out in compliance with the applicable standards, Company Quality (ISO) procedures and provide advice to the QHSE Department of any non-conformance issues
  • Comply with all occupational health, safety and environmental procedures of both the company and of client while working
  • In addition, shall also support the activities of the other units whenever requested
  • Will be required to visit customer site if required to witness delivery of Material to customer

Required Experience:
  • Engineering Degree (Preferably Mechanical)
  • Minimum 3 - 6 years of experience of Engineering Sales
  • Ability to plan, schedule and prioritize the activities.
  • Ability to work under own initiative and solve problems.
  • Experience in managing a customer account and project management.
  • Must have strong selling skills: previous experience highly preferred.
  • Willingness to work a flexible work schedule.
  • Ability to resolve common problems and concerns of customers in a professional manner.

Required Skills:
  • Experience in communicating with a variety of groups/customers at different knowledge levels; strong presentation skills
  • Knowledge of customer in the area with product & service requirement
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, manuals and documents.
  • Possesses managerial skills such as organizing, coordinating, integrating, directing and controlling.
  • Excellent customer service and support oriented approaches to interaction are required
  • Highly organized with real attention to detail.
  • Proven leadership capabilities and experience.
  • Excellent English command both written and verbally; Strong communicator. (Arabic would be an advantage).
  • Professionalism and ability to exercise discretion with confidential information at all times is required.
  • Awareness of Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental standards, policies and procedures.
  • Good numerical, analytical, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Strong personality with a commercial and business acumen.
  • Awareness of ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 & API Q1, 7K & 16C standards are preferable.
