The Sales Engineer - HV Switchgear is responsible for promoting, selling, and providing technical support for HV indoor switchgear solutions to utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, and industrial customers. The role combines technical expertise with sales skills to develop new business, manage key accounts, prepare techno-commercial proposals, and achieve sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Business Development:
Identify and develop new business opportunities for HV indoor switchgear in industrial, utility, and infrastructure sectors
Build and maintain strong relationships with EPC contractors, consultants, utilities, and end users
Achieve assigned sales targets, revenue growth, and market penetration objectives
Conduct customer meetings, site visits, and product presentations
Technical & Commercial Support:
Understand customer requirements and recommend suitable HV indoor switchgear solutions
Prepare and submit techno-commercial offers, quotations, and tender documentation
Review project specifications, single-line diagrams (SLDs), and BOQs
Coordinate with internal department and factory teams for technical clarifications and order execution
Provide technical support during pre-bid and post-order stages
Tender & Order Management:
Track and participate in tenders, RFQs, and enquiries
Negotiate commercial and technical terms to secure orders
Ensure timely order booking, documentation, and handover to execution teams
Market & Competitor Analysis:
Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing strategies, and new product developments
Collect customer feedback and support product improvement initiatives
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (B.E. / B.Tech in Electrical Engineering)
Additional training or certification in switchgear or power distribution systems is an advantage
Experience:
2-6 years of experience in sales or technical marketing of medium-voltage switchgear
Hands-on experience with 11kV indoor switchgear (VCB panels, GIS/AIS, protection relays, metering, busbar systems)
Familiarity with utilities, EPCs, and industrial power distribution projects
Technical Skills:
Strong knowledge of HV indoor switchgear
Ability to read and interpret SLDs, GA drawings, and technical specifications
Understanding of protection schemes, CT/PT selection, and MV insulation systems
Soft Skills:
Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills
Customer-focused and result-oriented mindset
Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team
Willingness to travel for customer meetings and site visits
