Develop, implement, and maintain safety management systems and procedures tailored to EMU depot construction activities, including track laying, equipment installation, civil works, and electrical systems.
Conduct regular on-site safety inspections and audits to identify potential hazards, non-compliances, and unsafe practices; propose and monitor corrective actions.
Oversee safety training programs for construction teams, subcontractors, and new employees on topics such as fall protection, heavy machinery operation, electrical safety, and emergency response.
Coordinate closely with project managers, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure safety requirements are embedded in project planning and daily operations.
Investigate safety incidents, near-misses, and accidents promptly; prepare detailed reports, analyze root causes, and recommend preventive measures.
Ensure compliance with all local, national, and industry-specific safety regulations (e.g., railway safety standards, construction safety codes) and company policies.
Conduct risk assessments for high-risk construction activities, including overhead work, track maintenance, and equipment hoisting; develop and implement mitigation strategies.
Monitor proper use, maintenance, and availability of personal protective equipment (PPE) and other safety devices on-site.
Organize safety meetings and toolbox talks to promote awareness and build a proactive safety culture across all teams.
Collaborate with relevant authorities and regulatory bodies to ensure smooth inspections and compliance with statutory requirements.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Safety Engineering, Civil Engineering, Railway Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in safety management for construction projects; experience in EMU depot, railway, or large-scale infrastructure projects preferred.
Possession of professional safety certifications such as OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification, Certified Safety Professional (CSP), or equivalent local qualification.
Strong understanding of construction safety regulations, railway safety standards, and EMU depot construction processes.
Proven ability in risk assessment, safety auditing, and incident investigation.
Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
Highly detail-oriented, proactive, and capable of working under pressure in a dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience specifically in EMU depot construction projects.
Familiarity with international safety management standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
Experience in developing and mentoring safety teams.
Knowledge of digital safety management systems and software tools.
