A
Safety Officer
is responsible for ensuring a safe and healthy working environment by preventing accidents, enforcing safety regulations, and promoting awareness of health and safety practices. They help protect employees, property, and the environment from potential hazards.
Identify workplace hazards and assess risks
Ensure compliance with safety laws, rules, and company policies
Develop and implement safety procedures and guidelines
2. Inspections & Audits
Conduct regular safety inspections of equipment, tools, and work areas
Report unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions
Monitor housekeeping and cleanliness standards
3. Training & Awareness
Conduct safety training, inductions, and toolbox talks
Educate employees on safe work practices and emergency procedures
Promote a strong safety culture among workers
4. Accident & Incident Management
Investigate accidents, near misses, and unsafe acts
Prepare incident reports and maintain safety records
Recommend preventive measures to avoid future incidents
5. Emergency Preparedness
Develop emergency response plans (fire, evacuation, first aid)
Ensure fire extinguishers, alarms, and safety signs are in place
Conduct mock drills and emergency exercises
6. Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
Ensure proper use of PPE such as helmets, gloves, masks, and safety shoes
Inspect PPE regularly and arrange replacements when needed
7. Legal Compliance & Documentation
Maintain safety documents, permits, and checklists
Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations
Coordinate with government safety inspectors if required
