is responsible for implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards across all sites managed by the subcontractor. They ensure that all operations are conducted in compliance with project-specific safety plans, client HSE requirements, and legal regulations. The Safety Officer works closely with site teams, subcontractor HSE personnel to prevent incidents and foster a strong safety culture.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Site Safety Management
Monitor day-to-day site activities to ensure compliance with approved method statements, risk assessments, and safety regulations.
Conduct daily site inspections to identify hazards, unsafe acts/conditions, and ensure prompt corrective action.
2. Coordination with Client / Main Contractor
Attend safety meetings (e.g., site coordination meetings) with the main contractor and client.
Align company safety practices with the client and main contractor's HSE policies.
3. Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and maintain site-specific HSE documentation (e.g., Permit to Work, daily safety reports).
Submit safety reports and inspection findings to management and client when required.
4. Training & Induction
Conduct safety induction for new workers and personnel.
Deliver toolbox on a regular basis, focusing on relevant job-site risks and safe work practices.
5. Incident Reporting & Investigation
Report and investigate any near-miss, incident, or accident involving the company workers.
Support root cause analysis and implementation of corrective/preventive actions.
6. PPE & Equipment Safety
Ensure all workers are equipped with proper and compliant PPE.
Monitor condition and safe use of tools, machinery, and equipment used by the workers.
7. Emergency Preparedness
Verify that all workers are aware of emergency procedures.
Conduct periodic drills and ensure fire extinguishers and first-aid kits are available and maintained.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Occupational Health & Safety or related field.
HSE certification (e.g., NEBOSH IGC, OSHA, IOSH Managing Safely).
At least 2-5 years' experience as a Safety Officer in a subcontractor environment (construction/MEP/civil/etc.).
Familiarity with client safety systems
Strong knowledge of local labour laws and HSE regulations.
Good communication and reporting skills in English (Arabic or other languages is a plus).
Preferred:
First Aid & Fire Safety Certification.
HSE Certification
Experience working on projects under major contractors or clients.
Familiarity with ISO standards.
