Role Description
We are seeking a diligent and proactive
Safety Officer
to oversee and enforce safety measures across shipboard and onsite operations. The Safety Officer plays a vital role in promoting a culture of safety, ensuring full compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirements, and supporting the overall success of fabrication, blasting, and painting activities.
This role requires hands-on field supervision, coordination with various teams, and consistent communication with upper management to guarantee safe and productive work environments.
Job Responsibilities
Ensure adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and maritime/industrial regulations
Conduct routine site inspections, hazard assessments, and safety audits
Monitor high-risk activities such as confined space work, hot work, and lifting operations
Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher courses to crew members
Promote and reinforce safe work practices and hazard recognition
Investigate safety incidents, near misses, and non-compliance reports
Maintain accurate records, including safety observations, corrective actions, and improvement plans
Ensure emergency response plans are in place and understood by all personnel
Supervise emergency drills and ensure availability of first aid and firefighting equipment
Job Requirements
High School diploma or equivalent (Bachelor's degree preferred)
Safety certification (e.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, OSHA) is
required
Minimum
3-5 years' experience
in marine, ship repair, or industrial safety roles
Strong knowledge of local HSE regulations and international safety standards
Excellent communication and documentation skills in English (Hindi is a plus)
Ability to work independently, lead safety teams, and coordinate with cross-functional departments
