Job Description

Job Purpose:

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring compliance with occupational health and safety regulations, company safety policies, and client requirements on all projects. The role focuses on identifying potential hazards, conducting safety inspections, training employees, and maintaining a safe working environment in line with international standards (OSHA, NEBOSH, ISO 45001, etc.).

Key Responsibilities:

Implement and enforce health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. Conduct daily site inspections, toolbox talks, and safety inductions for all employees and subcontractors. Prepare Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Risk Assessments for ongoing and upcoming activities. Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, NFPA, local labor laws, and client safety requirements. Investigate incidents, near misses, and accidents; prepare reports with corrective and preventive actions. Maintain safety records, permits, and documentation required for audits and inspections. Coordinate with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture. Provide training sessions on fire safety, first aid, PPE usage, and emergency procedures. Monitor and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Liaise with client safety representatives and participate in safety meetings.

Qualifications & Certifications:

Mandatory Certifications (as applicable):

NEBOSH International General Certificate (IGC) OSHA 30-hour Certification First Aid & CPR Certification ISO 45001 Lead Auditor (preferred) Minimum 3-5 years' experience as Safety Officer in construction, oil & gas, or industrial projects.

Skills & Competencies:

Strong knowledge of international safety standards and regulations. Excellent communication and reporting skills. Ability to train, motivate, and lead teams toward safe practices. High attention to detail with strong problem-solving ability.
