Your role As a Risk Analyst at Energetech, you will be responsible for assessing, monitoring, and managing risks at both the desk and company levels. You will play a crucial role in our Middle Office team ensuring that our trading strategies are well-informed, optimized, and compliant with regulatory requirements. This position requires expertise in developing and implementing complex risk models tailored to the unique dynamics of energy markets. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and be instrumental in presenting portfolio risk and performance analyses to the management team. Responsibilities
  • Position and Exposure Assessment: Assess and monitor trading positions and exposures on both the desk and company levels, ensuring compliance with risk limits and guidelines.
  • Risk Analysis: Conduct in-depth risk analysis on trading strategies and their benchmarks, utilizing financial and statistical modeling techniques, including Monte Carlo simulations.
  • Portfolio Risk Presentation: Prepare and present portfolio risk and performance analyses to senior management, providing insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Curve Validation: Mark and validate end-of-day curves in the risk system to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
  • Exposure Monitoring: Continuously monitor hedged energy positions and overall exposures, and implement margin calls or other security measures when necessary.
  • Risk Model Development: Develop and implement complex risk models, including VaR models, stress testing, and scenario analysis, specifically tailored to the dynamics of energy markets.
  • Stress Testing: Execute stress tests that account for a range of market scenarios, considering both financial and physical energy portfolios.
  • Market Risk Metrics: Manage and analyze sophisticated market risk metrics unique to energy markets, such as volatility surfaces, correlation matrices, and option greeks.
  • ETRM System Enhancement: Contribute to the enhancement of the Energy Trading and Risk Management (ETRM) system, reports, policies, and processes.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with quantitative analysts, traders, and IT professionals to integrate risk models into trading strategies and systems.
Requirements:
  • Holding a Master\'s degree in quantitative finance, mathematics, statistics, engineering, or a related field is required. A relevant professional certification (e.g., CFA, FRM) can be advantageous.
  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar role within the Energy Industry, with a focus on Power and Gas.
  • Strong knowledge of Short Term & Spot Energy markets and products
  • Expertise in market risk models, specifically Exchange and OTC margining mechanisms
  • Proficiency in mathematical and statistical skills is essential to accurately assess energy market risks.
  • Ability to design and execute stress tests that account for a range of market scenarios affecting both financial and physical energy portfolios.
  • Knowledge of portfolio optimization techniques to enhance risk-adjusted returns and minimize portfolio risk.
  • Experience with trading and risk management systems (ETRM) is preferred.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and VBA, as well as data visualization tools like PowerBI.
