RESTAURANT CASHIER

Purpose of the Position:

To manage customer transactions efficiently and accurately while providing excellent service at the point of sale. The Restaurant Cashier plays a key role in creating a positive customer experience by handling payments, answering queries, and supporting front-of-house operations in a clean and organized environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Greet customers in a friendly and professional manner as they enter or approach the counter. Accurately take orders and input them into the POS (Point of Sale) system. Process various types of payments, including cash, credit/debit cards, mobile payments, and gift cards. Provide correct change and issue receipts to customers. Handle customer inquiries or concerns regarding orders, pricing, or menu items. Coordinate with kitchen and service staff to ensure order accuracy and timely service. Maintain a clean and tidy cashier station, counter area, and front-of-house environment. Balance the cash drawer at the beginning and end of each shift; report any discrepancies to management. Assist with packing takeaway orders, labeling, and ensuring correct items are delivered to customers. Restock front counter items such as menus, napkins, condiments, and packaging materials. Follow all company policies regarding cash handling, safety, and food hygiene. Support team members during busy periods with additional front-of-house tasks as needed.

Skills and Abilities:

Strong communication and customer service skills. Basic math skills and ability to handle cash and card transactions with accuracy. Familiarity with POS systems or willingness to learn. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor. High level of attention to detail and reliability. Willingness to assist team members and take on varied tasks. Previous experience in a cashier or front-of-house role in a restaurant or cafe is a plus but not required.
