Duties and Responsibilities of a Restaurant Cashier1. Customer Service
Greet customers politely and professionally.
Answer questions about the menu or restaurant services.
Handle complaints or direct them to the manager.
2. Handling Transactions
Process cash, credit card, and digital payments accurately.
Issue receipts, refunds, or change due to customers.
Reconcile cash drawer at the beginning and end of shifts.
3. Order Management
Take customer orders (in dine-in or takeout setups).
Relay orders to the kitchen or input them into the POS (Point of Sale) system.
Confirm order accuracy before handing it to the customer.
4. POS and Register Operation
Operate POS systems efficiently.
Ensure the register is balanced and report any discrepancies.
Maintain knowledge of current pricing and discounts.
5. Cleanliness and Organization
Keep the cashier station clean and organized.
Restock necessary items like napkins, utensils, and packaging materials.
6. Compliance and Security
Follow restaurant policies and food safety regulations.
Ensure secure handling of money and customer information.
7. Team Support
