Main Duties and Responsibilities/Performance Standards

Patient monitoring of physiological responses to therapy such as arterial blood gases, vital signs or blood chemistry, lung function changes, and consulting any adverse reactions to the physician.

Checks patient\xe2\x80\x99s pulmonary function.

Able to follow specified parameters of treatment.

Setting and operating on devices such as therapeutic gas administration apparatus, mechanical ventilators, environmental control systems, and aerosol generators.

Provides emergency care, such as external cardiac massage, artificial respiration, or assistance with cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Respiratory therapy equipment should be inspected, tested, cleaned and maintained to ensure its safe and efficient function.

Measures arterial blood gas, reads prescriptions, lung capacity, and reviews other information to assess the patient\xe2\x80\x99s condition.

Relays blood analysis report to the physician.

Explains to the patient their healthcare treatment procedures for patients to gain knowledge and cooperation.

Qualifications, Competences and Skills
Education
Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Respiratory Therapy
Experience
3 to 5 years\xe2\x80\x99 experience directly related to duties and responsibilities specified
Licensure
Minimum one year
Language
Proficiency in English and Arabic language
Computer Proficiency
Basic computer skills
Performance Competencies

Ability to explain and demonstrate the use of different equipment\xe2\x80\x99s related to respiratory and knowledgeable about specific contraindications for use of different equipment\xe2\x80\x99s.
