Job Summary: The Reservation Manager / Head Hostess is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the reservation system, managing the host/hostess team, and ensuring a smooth and welcoming guest experience. This role requires excellent organizational skills, strong leadership, and the ability to maintain high service standards while optimizing seating efficiency. Key Responsibilities: Reservation Management:

  • Manage and oversee the restaurant's reservation system (e.g., OpenTable, Resy, or other booking platforms).
  • Monitor and adjust table allocations to maximize seating efficiency and revenue.
  • Handle VIP reservations, special requests, and large party bookings.
  • Coordinate with the kitchen and service staff to ensure smooth seating and guest flow.
  • Address reservation conflicts, no-shows, and last-minute changes professionally.
Guest Experience & Front Desk Operations:
  • Greet guests warmly and ensure a positive first impression.
  • Oversee the host/hostess team, ensuring proper seating rotations and fair table distribution.
  • Manage waitlists during peak hours, providing accurate wait times and updates.
  • Resolve guest complaints or seating issues promptly and diplomatically.
  • Maintain a clean and organized host stand and entry area.
Team Leadership & Training:
  • Train, schedule, and supervise the host/hostess team.
  • Conduct pre-shift meetings to communicate reservations, VIPs, and special events.
  • Ensure staff adheres to dress code, service standards, and restaurant policies.
  • Provide performance feedback and assist in evaluations.
Administrative & Communication Duties:
  • Generate daily reservation reports and communicate with management on capacity planning.
  • Liaise with the marketing/events team for promotions or private dining inquiries.
  • Assist in developing and updating reservation policies and procedures.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of guest preferences and special occasions.
Qualifications & Skills:
  • Experience: 2+ years in a host/hostess, reservationist, or front-of-house role (fine dining or high-volume preferred).
  • Leadership: Prior supervisory experience is a plus.
  • Tech-Savvy: Proficient in reservation software (OpenTable, Resy, SevenRooms, etc.) and POS systems.
  • Communication: Exceptional interpersonal and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Organization: Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
