Job Description

MERA Global is a UK-headquartered consultancy registered across MENA, specializing in Monitoring, Evaluation, Research, Advisory (MERA), and data-driven solutions. We support humanitarian and development partners (USAID, EU, DRC, Expertise France, etc.) in fragile and conflict-affected contexts. We are currently conducting a Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices (KAP) Study on Climate Change in Oman and seeking skilled Researchers / Data Collectors to support high-quality field data collection. Key Responsibilities Participate in mandatory training on data collection methodology, research ethics, and use of digital tools (Kobo/ODK). Conduct quantitative surveys via CATI (Computer-Assisted Telephone Interviews) and in-person household interviews using structured questionnaires. Facilitate and assist in Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with community participants. Identify, approach, and recruit eligible respondents following systematic sampling protocols (household visits, market/shop sampling). Ensure proper informed consent, explain the purpose of the study, and maintain respondent confidentiality. Use mobile data collection applications accurately, ensuring geo-tagging and required photo documentation. Record, transcribe, and securely upload qualitative data (FGDs or interviews) where permitted. Participate in daily check-ins with Field Coordinators and provide status reports on survey progress. Adhere to data quality standards, including spot-checks and protocol compliance, ensuring completeness and accuracy of responses. Uphold high professional standards, including courtesy, punctuality, and adherence to safety guidelines during fieldwork. Required Qualifications BacheloraEUR(TM)s degree in Social Sciences, Statistics, Environmental Studies, Development Studies, or a related field (preferred but not mandatory). Proven experience in data collection, field research, or enumerator work, particularly in Oman or MENA region. Ability to conduct interviews in Arabic and English (bilingual candidates preferred). Familiarity with digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK, CATI software). Strong interpersonal and communication skills with diverse community groups. Willingness to travel and work across governorates (Muscat, Dhofar, Al Batinah North). High ethical standards and commitment to data confidentiality and participant rights. Desirable Skills Experience conducting research on climate change, environmental issues, or social studies. Knowledge of local community dynamics and ability to recruit respondents efficiently.
