The MENA CTE Research Project Manager contributes to strengthen the activities of the UITP MENA Division. He/She is responsible for providing services to members in the region, in particular providing scientific background for research on mobility and transport issues in the region. He/She leads regional projects and contributes to global projects from the MENA perspective. He/She supports the Director of the UITP MENA Regional Office to develop membership in the region.
Responsibilities/Main Duties
Conducts research, knowledge development and data collection in public transport, urban transport and Sustainable mobility, in the MENA Region that conciliates the needs of the sector and the association and the expectations of the members;
Ensures that knowledge content and research output in the MENA Region contributes to added value services to the direct benefits of the members and answers the priorities of the Integrated Global Work Programme;
Leads or supports research projects as assigned by the UITP CTE Head and defined in the work-plan of the MENA CTE. This will be MENA CTE, MENA Division or UITP global projects:
Provides project management for research projects under own reasonability, including project planning, resource management, reporting and collaboration with relevant internal and external colleagues
Collaborates in research projects with other UITP staff
Drafts or reviews project reports, papers, presentation and training material and other information
Collects regional data and information or supports the collection of data
Supports the dissemination of findings
Drafts and supports UITP publications, including study reports, knowledge papers, policy briefs, newsletters, and other content.
5. Facilitates the sharing of content and information to different audiences (members, decision makers) using different communication means.
6. Promotes membership between his/her professional contacts in coordination with the Director of the UITP MENA Regional Office and the Head of Business Development;
7. Is responsible and performs all required administrative tasks linked to his/her job in conformity with UITP head office requirements.
8. Manages his/her assistant and interacts with UITP staff according to the RISE values and with care to ensure its sustainable performance. This mainly consists in providing the employees with guidance, leadership and support, ensuring their development and well-being.
Profile
Demonstrated experience in research and project delivery in Urban Transport/ Urban planning/Public Transport domain,
Excellent knowledge of Public Transport sector and its actors is a must
Experience in project management
Excellent communication skills, happy to share knowledge
Diplomatic approach and ability to federate groups of stakeholders
Passionate about public transport and its advocacy
Excellent written and spoken English and Arabic, other languages are an asset
Excellent planning and organisational skills
Very well-organized, multi-tasking abilities, flexibility in tasks, rigorous, with eyes for details,
Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
Happy to give support to a dynamic and creative team
IT literate
Sense of initiative, problems solving attitude
