Job Description
The Research Director will provide research and analysis to EIA and its investment departments to create investment themes and ideas to raise EIA performance. Responsibilities and duties
Requirements
- Macro Economic Research
- Stay up to date with latest macro economic research and thinking
- Identify macro-economic themes that can be implemented in the portfolio
- Identify micro level themes that can be implemented across asset classes
- Provide insight into potential sectors of interest and value opportunities
- Provide insight into companies and investments of interest
- Stay up to date with global trends and latest thinking about future global social, economic, technological and political changes
- Provide recommendations to EIA to update strategy based upon global trends
- Provide insight into investment industry trends
- Provide insight into developments in SWFs and other similar investment entities
- Provide insight into developments with General Partners
- Provide insight into government related initiatives and economic strategies
- Provide insight into local peer group activities and strategies
- Establish a network of external and internal stakeholders for information sharing
- Ensure EIA presence in relevant investment conferences
- Understand the universe of research activities within our portfolio companies and seek efficient and synergistic information sharing
- Establish a research framework to pro-actively push regular reporting to committees and internal stakeholders
- Formalise reporting of investable themes
- Formalise inputs required from internal stakeholders
Requirements
- Minimum Bachelors Degree preferably in Economics or Finance related discipline
- Preferably Masters Degree in Economics or Finance related discipline or MBA
- 15+ years experience in a research / macro-economics related field with minimum 5 years in buyside investment institutions
- Significant experience in researching and recommending investment themes and trends
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of global, and emerging market, capital markets
- Thorough knowledge of the GCC investment market
- Experience analysing investment trends and opportunities including individual equity / corporate analysis
- Preferably broad understanding of our key strategic direct investment industries \xe2\x80\x93 telecommunications, energy, logistics
