This role is responsible for activities involving the evaluation and qualification of raw materials relevant to Coil Coatings, the investigation into quality concerns, and manufacturing support through processing/raw material investigation and on-site scaleup. This role will also assist the internal technical function as needed.
The mandatory will have opportunities to participate in product development and commercialization teams while providing support to external and internal customers including, technical service, management, manufacturing, quality, and procurement.
Reporting directly to the R&D Manager. The associate executive position for Coil Coatings with the R&D team is responsible for the timely and efficient creation, testing, and experimentation of new product development, as well as the maintenance of business.
Job Responsibilities:
- Appropriate selection of raw materials, paint making and testing, data analysis, and application of paint formulation/knowledge to product specifications and performance requirements as defined by the appropriate sales team.
- Accurate documentation and presentation of lab results and technical information.
- Frequent and direct interaction with Sales, Manufacturing, Regional & Global Product Managers, and various support groups to ensure the successful commercialization of products.
- Develop more in-depth technical and business knowledge regarding Coil Coating products.
- Plan, schedule, executive work, analyze results, and make recommendations based on those results.
- Identify potential Continuous Improvement opportunities and drive necessary actions for implementation.
- Manage work in accordance with timeline goals.
- Adhere to company safety and quality standards at all times.
- Perform product performance and application testing.
- Understanding of formulation software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Recognize and observe QMS policy.
- Comply with quality management system (QMS) policy to improve the work process.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum 4 years of Research & Development experience in the paint industry.
- University degree in Chemistry/Paint Technology.
- To be fit mentally and physically.
- Work in an office environment using common office equipment such as computers, printers, and fax machines.
- Environment and scheduling: This role can involve scale-up at manufacturing facilities that may be hot or cold depending on the time of year. Chemicals are used in the paint-making process (proper PPE is outlined and supplied). Travel is involved as needed to attend trials, and seminars/trade shows.
