Job Description

The Department of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering at College of Engineering, United Arab Emirates University Calls Application for Research Associates to work in the field of bio-based materials. The candidate will be supported by a research grant for four months and the selected candidate will work under the supervision of Professor Mohammad Jawaid. Roles and Responsibilities: o Extraction of Lignin using natural deep eutectic solvents from biomass o Characterisation of extracted Lignin from biomass o Modification of lignin to Biobased Resin o Testing extracted and modified lignin using advanced characterization techniques like Thermal, Structural, Morphological, NMR, UV Spectroscopy, Particle size Analysis (PSA), Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) Analysis. Present and report research results at national and international conferences and publish scientific results in peer-reviewed Q1 journals



Minimum Qualification



An appropriate educational degree supplemented with documented evidence to support the following: o Skilled in Material science oResearch experience in Extraction and synthesis of lignin and Bioresin o Ability to fabricate and characterize composites and nanocomposites o Good technical writing skills and good Publication records o Flexible approach and initiative in executing the role.



Preferred Qualification



Material science/Polymer composites background or any related area o Demonstrable willingness to support work in the lab o Be adaptable and flexible to the continuous changes associated with research demands o Commitment to provide a safe and healthy workplace
